KakaoTalk Customer Insights

1. I don't hear the ring tones, the video constantly freezes, and I keep getting " this feature is unavailable right now." Before any say it's due to internet connection, I have tried to use my phone data and turned of Wi-Fi so there is no excuse!!! This problem needs to be addressed immediately because this has been going on for a month and a half.In general, the app is good.

2. On the other hand, it offers nice emoji and can be downloaded and used by everyone including people who have nothing to do with Korea.I noticed I didn't receive any messages at peak time for me... until I opened the app.

3. Therefore only two stars.I used to absolutely love this app for messaging, my boyfriend and I use it all the time, but with the past few updates, it hardly ever sends notifications any more, and I have to check the app constantly to be sure I am not missing any messages coming through.

4. I never get notifications from my friends when they send me messages, and yes I checked the settings.

5. Please fix this immediately... had this been an emergency, there would've been tragic consequences.This was my app that I lived by to keep with my friends in Korea.

6. I checked to make sure that the notifications settings in the app were set, and they are, even check the S Gear app to make sure they were on, and are.

7. Also transferring your service to a new phone is complicated, especially if you get a new number, too (you lose photos, videos--even more if not very careful).

8. Not only that, but I now my S Gear Sport no longer vibrates when I actually do receive, I have checked everything I can possibly think of to see why it might not vibrate with Kakao.

9. It changed the layout/format when you make calls and now none of my Bluetooth headphones work for calls.

10. Edit: still can't use my Bluetooth earbuds to make phone calls.

11. Especially I like the feature to be able to send the links to my own account for future reading/watching.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix KakaoTalk Issues

1. Fix KakaoTalk Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart KakaoTalk: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the KakaoTalk App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "KakaoTalk" » Open KakaoTalk : Messenger » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for KakaoTalk » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear KakaoTalk : Messenger app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from KakaoTalk servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "KakaoTalk : Messenger" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check KakaoTalk app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, KakaoTalk might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall KakaoTalk. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall KakaoTalk then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing KakaoTalk not working


2. Fix KakaoTalk Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make KakaoTalk be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to KakaoTalk not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, KakaoTalk may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.

  • HI there. I signed up to Kakao Talk yesterday. But when i try to send a message, I get the following come up: "Youa re not allowed to use Open Chat in accordance with our user protection measures. This is a temporary measure to provide a safe service, and the user protection measures can be relaxed when you complete user identification via the Talk Safety Pass." However, when I click 'relax' it doesn't work. Can you please fix this so I can use open chat?

  • Hello, my Kakaotalk was working fine until I deleted it and reinstalled it, every time I put my number and password they ask me to wait for a verification code, it’s been more than 3 weeks and still haven’t received any verification code. Please please if anyone can help me, I really want to get my account back and thank you.

  • You are not allowed to use Open Chat in accordance with our user protection policy

    My kakao was working fine until i got this. I got banned from joining Open chats and as well got banned from chatting in the ones i'm already in. Please restore it back, this is so sad and making me so miserable. I trust kakao, but i hate what is going on with my kakaotalk now. Please help me out and solve it for me.

I opened a kakaotalk in Uzbekistan for an Uzbek number, then came to Korea, my acquaintance in Uzbekistan opened my account and as a result I suddenly left. The phone number has also been changed.   • Well I tired to login to my kakao account but i didn't remember password so i changed it and after it a get information like it " unable to login with this kakao account due to kakaotalk service restrictions. Please contact the kakao customer service center for more details. " and sience that I can't login to my account
