Circle 1st generation Customer Insights

1. When my wife joined with my passcode to be able to manage devices from her phone too, it's nice that it sent me a notification that new device had access, but I didn't need it 8 times... The way it processes images for the profile is not a critical feature, but pretty annoying... it doesn't want to update without deleting the old (it'll show it's updated, until it refreshes), some, but not all, of the photos will have a few pixels cut off the bottom after reloading, and although an image with a transparent background will be transparent when you first add it, after a reload it will be black.Like a few others have mentioned, recently history no longer shows up.

2. I am looking for a better app to use, even if I have to replace my netgear router to use it.I have had the circle in our home for about 3 weeks now, and it is dong a great job of limiting my kids technology time, making sure they are not on their devices after bed time, keeping them from harmful sites, and giving us a bit more family time.

3. Used this for years and it's mostly worked okay, but a lot of times history from devices will show up on the wrong profile for a few minutes at a time.

4. You cannot setup different restrictions to devices per person without making a separate profile for them (i.e. computer time vs TV time).

5. Occasionally the history feature will fall behind or require some time to show up correctly, but that's a pretty minor complaint when all the major functions work consistently.

6. I like the functionality of the time limits, bedtimes, content filters, etc., however, my network slows to such a crawl that I cant wait for the kids to go to bed so I can unplug it and ha e restored speed.

7. I'm trying it for a second time (paid version this time) after it erased all of my devices and profiles at the beginning of the year.

8. It also doesn't seem to have an option to see if devices are actively connected or the last time they connected.

9. Overall this app has made it a lot easier to manage device usage time for kids.Terrible time setting it up.

10. The ability to set bedtimes and off-times is excellent, the ability to filter content and websites for family members is excellent, and the ability to see history and filtered websites is great.

11. Personally I would like an approved list... I manually do this by a separate profile that I assign devices to after I approve them.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Circle 1st generation Issues

1. Fix Circle 1st generation Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Circle 1st generation: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Circle 1st generation App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Circle 1st generation" » Open Circle 1st generation » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Circle 1st generation » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Circle 1st generation app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Circle 1st generation servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Circle 1st generation" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Circle 1st generation app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Circle 1st generation might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Circle 1st generation. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Circle 1st generation then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Circle 1st generation not working


2. Fix Circle 1st generation Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Circle 1st generation be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Circle 1st generation not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Circle 1st generation may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.

  • I wish to renew my subscription...I no longer have the phone that I had when I opened the account, when I try to have the passcode texted it never goes through which may be my voip services' fault, also I've since replaced my router with a used one so I'm not sure that it isn't trying to access some previous owners circle account rather than mine..... regardless, I want access to it, and to renew the subscription, and can't.....which is frustrating me greatly.
