1. KnowYourDrive helps you learn safer driving habits and gives you more control over how much you pay for car insurance.
2. The app displays your discount, trip details, safe driving tips and keeps track of your streak of distraction-free trips.
3. The app then continues to monitor your driving behavior and show your progress, so you can keep learning and adjust your driving habits accordingly.
4. After each household driver downloads the app at no cost, you’ll receive an introductory car insurance discount.
5. And depending on how you drive, your policy will earn a program discount on your car insurance. Nice!
6. Please note that the KnowYourDrive app is available to invited American Family Insurance customers.
7. That’s why we are offering you KnowYourDrive, a simple way to get on the road towards safety and savings.
8. Additional detail is provided on your driving versus others who have the app.
9. Helping you protect what matters most is our top priority.
10. Disclaimer: Continued use of GPS running in the background can decrease battery life.
1. There isn't an option for if a passenger is using your phone while you're driving but you can claim that you were the passenger if you remember to go back 24-48 hours after your trip because that is how long it takes to post to the app.
2. However, if my husband is driving my car and I am the the PASSENGER using my phone it records it as distracted driving.
3. It gives me distracted driving when I am parked in my driveway, parked at work, and even when my phone is in my bag.
4. Yesterday, on a half mile trip, I had it report 4 dings in the same spot for fast acceleration in a location I would actually have braked in, because it's right by a turn and I drive slowly through my neighborhood.
5. It will start my drives out 5-6 blocks away from my house, showing I had a sudden breaking incident and apparently flipped an illegal U-turn in the middle of the road to continue on my journey in the correct direction.
6. Terrible app. When a company requires you to download and keep an app running in order to qualify for a discount, they should make sure that app works properly.
7. I've been using it for a week and keeping a very close eye on my driving and what the app is saying.
8. I'll give it a little longer, but I liked Sprint's Sprint Drive better as that plugged into the car directly.App only works 40% of the time, and then I get a billing update due to not using the app.
9. What's the point of a program to get a discount if the app for it doesn't work most of the time.
10. I tested it out yesterday to see if I was being dinged for speeding (which is NOT how "high speed" is defined in the app) and stayed exactly at the limit, and it still marked me.
11. It is constantly running, even when you aren't driving, and at this point almost feels like a complete invasion of privacy.
