Alarm.com Customer Insights

1. Every update seems to cause an issue with the hardware, and they charge you if they have to come out to "fix" the hardware... Plus, the app has been laggy from day 1 (eg - doorbell camera takes forever to load and only loads about 60% of the time...most times I have to force close and try again to load the camera).The software just sucks.

2. App doesn't respond when trying to change the temp, extremely slow response when trying to arm the system as well as locking/unlocking the front door.

3. As others mentioned, doorbell is delayed, camera rarely works when doorbell triggered & to view live video from multiple cameras, you have to close the app most of the time.

4. Revamping it to be useful, (or removing it)alone would get rid of 1 tapApp is ok but I can never never never get it to connect to the doorbell camera in real time.

5. Still slow to fiollow commands, and still lags when trying to acces the doorbell video.

6. So, the MicroSD slot is useless.App is fine for arming and disarming my security system and turning on/off my lights.

7. I even put a SanDisk MicroSD in my ADC-V724 cameras to see if they would record longer, & it recognized that I inserted it, but won't use it & app won't give me the option to setup rules using local storage.

8. A lot of room for improvement.Doorbell notification has about a 30-60 second delay from the actual doorbell ring to the notification hitting my notifications.

9. Cameras record for like 30-45 seconds when detecting motion & minimum time you can select before they will record again is 30 seconds.

10. Of course, their support will just respond that it's hardware and to reach out to local support, blah blah blah.

11. The software is not dependable nor consistent - I would highly discourage purchasing any system that relies on this app.The service is good, but the app could use a lot of help here.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Alarm.com Issues

1. Fix Alarm.com Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Alarm.com: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Alarm.com App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Alarm.com" » Open Alarm.com » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Alarm.com » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Alarm.com app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Alarm.com servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Alarm.com" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Alarm.com app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Alarm.com might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Alarm.com. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Alarm.com then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Alarm.com not working


2. Fix Alarm.com Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Alarm.com be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Alarm.com not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Alarm.com may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
