1. In the latest Android, your screen has to be on for this to work... Some people think that's a negative but I actually like that because when the screen is off, the volume buttons, even when held down, work just like volume buttons... When I want to switch tracks without looking at the screen, I just hit the power button and then hold down the volume buttons..When it works, it works great! I'm on Android 11 however, so thanks to Google making everyone else's lives harder, it works sporadically at best.
2. The settings are sufficient for me, including adjusting press time to activate skip, enabling vibration on skip, disabling the skip in certain states (screen off, no music playing, etc.), and disabling the annoying android service notifications.
3. EXPLANATION --- Most other skip apps make use of an optional developer permission to enable a native "long volume key press" listener for android.
4. ☹️ANDROID 11 COMPATIBLE --- After much testing on my new Android 11 phone (Pixel 4a 5G), this appears to be the only non-root volume button skip app available in the play store which is still completely functional.
5. Timely! The only bug remaining now, which doesn't bother me much but may bother others is: When listening to music and Volumee is active, screenshotting causes the Volume to lower by itself all the way to zero and it stays stuck there! The volume box stays active showing that something is causing it to be lowered over and over.
6. I otherwise have no issues. The perfect app for skipping tracks/media with the volume keys and has adjustable long press durations, however it does not work when the phone is locked and idle which renders the concept of this app useless.
7. With app background usage limits disabled, power saving mode disabled, and accessibility and notification permissions granted to the app it still does not work while the phone is locked and away in your pocket which is ideally the time you would want to use it.
8. In contrast, Volumee listens for long volume keypresses by using a custom-built accessibility service as a listener, avoiding the issues of the built-in listener entirely.
9. Volumee works perfectly on all my music apps except one (Droidsound-E), which is probably due to the app not receiving skip requests properly.
10. Maybe letting the user switch what a long hold does? Like being able to set holding down the volume down to pause or play instead of previous track.
11. In Android 11, the functionality of this listener been degraded, and now no listens at all times (screen off, etc.), meaning these apps can no longer consistently detect long keypresses.
