1. If you were hoping this would solve the info problem after the mass cancallation when a train rolled this is not the solution, complete waste of time.this is like a beta version, it's usability is low, it sends you off to a browser to read messages, it doesn't let you specify which services you are interested at a favourite station, e.g. Wellington, if you can figure out how to save a favourite, hint - you can't do it from the favourites tab, alerts stay unread when you have read them, not updated for two years, doesn't show any commitment to improving public transport usagethe times are often wrong on the number 1 route.

2. If you want to find a train get the printed timetable it much easier to navigate and find the train you are looking for.So spammy! I selected my train line and stops but I am getting bus update notifications pushed to my phone.

3. So you need to use the Metlink website/Google Maps app/Kiwi Hub app/Snapper app to see whole timetable, plan trips, make fare enquiries, top up Snapper etc.Lots of buses times don't show up especially the earlier ones and those are the ones you can't ring about because of office hours.

4. This was an issue last time I installed the app and I uninstalled it because it was so spammy but I have had to reinstall it after you cancelled my train last week and I did not find out until I was at the station.

5. This app does not work do not even bother wasting your time!! You receive random notifications but when you open the app to find out what's happening there is NO info in the app.

6. lots of buses show Due for long after the bus has left then disappearing (the earlier you know the earlier you can get an uber otherwise you end up late) lots of buses on the route you're looking at don't appear on the map especially the number 7s.

7. I don't care about the buses, I only want to hear about updates to my train line.

8. I would give this a 5 star if it had the option of being able to track your bus so you can see upcoming stops really useful when catching buses you're not familiar with.

9. If you are trying to search the best route from A to B you better know the names of the stops and what line you need to take otherwise your out of luck.

10. Is confusion about what it does: it's an app version of the electronic route arrival time boards that you see in town.

11. However in order for me to be kept informed about the train now apparently I have to be spammed about the buses.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Metlink Commuter Issues

1. Fix Metlink Commuter Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Metlink Commuter: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Metlink Commuter App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Metlink Commuter" » Open Metlink Commuter » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Metlink Commuter » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Metlink Commuter app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Metlink Commuter servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Metlink Commuter" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Metlink Commuter app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Metlink Commuter might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Metlink Commuter. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Metlink Commuter then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Metlink Commuter not working


2. Fix Metlink Commuter Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Metlink Commuter be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Metlink Commuter not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Metlink Commuter may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
