About MyCityBus

1. From their customer account, riders can subscribe to receive text, email or push-notifications containing bus departure information, including one-time or recurring notifications for specific routes, days and times.

2. And with one screen-tap, riders can view estimated departure times for the next buses and routes servicing these stops.

3. By selecting a favorite location or route, or entering a starting point and destination, riders can get real-time GPS-based information for all possible bus options.

5. Riders without data plans can get real-time information as well by texting a designated phone number.

MyCityBus Customer Insights

1. I just wish this issue was fixed because it is hampering the app's effectiveness.A decent app, except they've taken away the My Location feature so it doesn't actually just automatically tell you the times of the bus nearest to you, which kind of defeats the point.

2. I even prefer using this app over Google Maps because this has up to date timing and stop locations.I like the app before it showed your location and it doesn't pop up to the right one when you first open the app up.

3. Sometimes it does and sometimes it shows the location from the city bus center (when I am not even there), making it difficult to use.

4. I ended up getting on random buses until one went past my destination.Very useful and handy app that's very good for getting around Purdue.

5. I kept trying to use the "plan my trip" feature and it would tell me to take a different bus every time even if I just planned the same trip twice.

6. I'd rather ride my bicycle than even open this map, I'd be much faster.Do you like busses showing up 30 seconds after the app says they are 5 minutes away? Or maybe you're more into a bus showing as due and never bothering to show up.

7. Very frustrating especially when I rely on this for class.App consistently does not show your actual location.

8. But you dont have a choice, so good luck!There are a lot of nice features on this app but a GLARING issue is the fact it gives arrival times that simply don't exist.

9. I used to absolutely love it, but now it doesn't actually show me the bus location.

10. Instead it just tells me the times of buses in City Center, which I never asked for and don't need.

11. Being a Purdue student timing is very important when going to and from class.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix MyCityBus Issues

1. Fix MyCityBus Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart MyCityBus: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the MyCityBus App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "MyCityBus" » Open MyCityBus » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for MyCityBus » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear MyCityBus app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from MyCityBus servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "MyCityBus" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check MyCityBus app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, MyCityBus might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall MyCityBus. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall MyCityBus then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing MyCityBus not working


2. Fix MyCityBus Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make MyCityBus be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to MyCityBus not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, MyCityBus may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
