1. While trying to set up the app it wants my phone location, access to contacts and calls, then asks for wifi password to complete setup....along with pasting from clipboard! I didn't finish setting up any connection! I will just come home and manually turn on the blanket.

2. I want to get into a warm bed and it isn't! Hurumph! Until January 2023, the app grabbed the contents of my Android clipboard whenever it started, which is a serious security and trust violation! It doesn't do that anymore so I bought the Sunbeam blanket.

3. It's a good blanket, but a horrible experience.Everytime I open the app it demands I give it access to bluetooth and precise location.

4. It should just connect via Bluetooth like other devices do; i.e. earbuds, headphones, speakers, but not through your home wifi!We use this app to control our queen sized heated blanket.

5. The App is great but it blanket even though connected and wifi is good, blanket still doesn't go on.The app lost all my schedules for no reason.

6. Should it require me to reset my WiFi to a frequency more prone to interference? NO! Make it a Bluetooth only connection, effective within 15 feet, do NOT require a user account to collect marketing data.

7. Does my hated blanket require my precise location? NO.

8. I was often asleep by this point and ended up disabling notifications from the app.Turning on the blanket using the hardware buttons would leave it on for 10 hours.

9. However, my biggest gripe is that the app requires you to press the check mark button on the connected remote at times to increase the heat setting.

10. I say no then select my bed to adjust the heat and it once again says it needs bluetooth and precise location.

11. Clearly access to those things is not required and trying to pester me into giving it to you everytime is wrong.the controls constantly F 1 and doesn't work.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Sunbeam Issues

1. Fix Sunbeam Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Sunbeam: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Sunbeam App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Sunbeam" » Open Sunbeam » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Sunbeam » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Sunbeam app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Sunbeam servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Sunbeam" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Sunbeam app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Sunbeam might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Sunbeam. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Sunbeam then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Sunbeam not working


2. Fix Sunbeam Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Sunbeam be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Sunbeam not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Sunbeam may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
