About Citybus

1. Sequence of the bookmarks can be “Edited” to put favorite routes on top. - With push notification enabled, you can receive route specific customer notice and special arrangement referencing the bookmarks. - Origin and destination can also be bookmarked to speed up nearby bus stop search and point-to-point search. - By clicking the new “Destination” button at main page, the system will suggest direct Citybus routes from user current location to the selected destination, with ETA to the nearest bus stop. - If there is no direct route, the system will suggest a combination of Citybus routes to the destination. - Provide estimated journey time integrating timetable, historical bus journey times, ETA and user walking time. - Octopus interchange and fare concessions are included when displaying fare. - Remind you to alight in 2 phases according to the distance to the bus stop.

2. Alert user when delay is detected or when the bus cannot continue its journey. - Able to customize ETA display method in “countdown minutes” or “arrival time”. 2. - Display next bus ETA and nearest bus stop of all routes within 400m radius from current or selected location. - The routes bookmarked or frequently checked will be displayed on the top of the list. - You can manage routes bookmarked or checked in “Bookmark” and “History” page. - Click a bus stop on the map to show all routes calling that bus stop, next bus ETA. 4. - Retrieve next bus ETA of desired routes in the “Bookmark” page after bookmarking a route and bus stop.

3. The reminder will be deleted automatically upon arrival. - Automatic search for nearest routes and bus stops function uses location service of your device. - When alight reminder is enabled, the app uses location service of your device continuously until arriving at the selected bus stop, which may drain battery. - Next bus ETA, alight reminder and search result of point to point search are for reference only, subject to traffic conditions.

4. 1. - Display ETA of the next 3 arrivals within 60 minutes of all Citybus routes, including KMB and Long Win departures for jointly operated routes and the ETA of Kowloon Motor Bus / Long Win Bus, New Lantao Bus and Green minibuses provided by Data. gov. - Exclusively display actual distance between current location of the travelling bus and the selected stop on Citybus routes.

Citybus Customer Insights

1. But after the update, it took me 43 seconds to just open the app, 30 seconds to open up search for a bus route, 2 minutes to search for a bus, 6 minutes to open up the bus information (sometimes it may not even open).

2. Before, within a minute I can open the app, search for a bus route and open open the bus stop information all one minute.

3. I usually just check the same bus and route for the same stop, usually in a rush.Don't downloaded this app, give you time bus will arrive, but you are waiting and no bus arrived.Finally a nice app in recent updates.

4. I wish that it would be possible to save a setting (maybe a widget) so it's not necessary to always launch the app, search the route and choose the stop.

5. Can't open the app.It was annoying before with all the ads and a hard to navigate search function.

6. If you are the type of people who use this app to check bus arrival times, I recommend you to check it in advance, not last minute check.

7. Just to let you know I'm using samsung Galaxy A6+ and I tried using different wifi and using data to open up the app.

8. The app was barely acceptable before this new update and now it is worse! It takes 30 seconds to load the app, but it makes you watch an ad for another 5 seconds before you can use it.

9. I use it every morning to check bus times, but it takes 8-10 taps, and over 1 minute to reach the result.

10. And lastly, it would be much better if the route notifications were displayed on native viewer instead of forcing the user to download a PDF file.

11. At least it works fine at mostly and no pop up ads.The virtual keyboard does not work to input route noumbers.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Citybus Issues

1. Fix Citybus Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Citybus: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Citybus App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Citybus" » Open Citybus » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Citybus » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Citybus app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Citybus servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Citybus" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Citybus app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Citybus might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Citybus. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Citybus then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Citybus not working


2. Fix Citybus Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Citybus be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Citybus not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Citybus may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
