1. Capital Bikeshare (CaBi) has thousands of bikes at hundreds of stations across Washington DC, Arlington, Alexandria, Tysons, Reston, Silver Spring, Takoma Park, Bethesda and Chevy Chase.
2. Capital Bikeshare is DC, Virginia, and Maryland’s bike share system, and the first large scale bikeshare in the nation.
3. CaBi consists of a fleet of specially designed, sturdy and durable bikes that are locked into a network of docking stations throughout the city.
4. The bikes can be unlocked from one station and returned to any other station in the system, making them ideal for one-way trips.
5. You can also view all station locations, see available bikes and docks, and get walking directions to them to start your ride.
6. People use bike share to commute to work, meet friends for dinner, or simply cruise around and see new sights.
7. The CaBi App lets you purchase rides, unlock a bike, and ride right away.
8. After signing up, all trips under 30 minutes are free.
9. Best of all, it’s available 24/7.
10. The Capital Bikeshare app also shows upcoming public transit departures, including WMATA Metrorail, Metrobus, and shuttle lines, DC Circulator buses, Fairfax Connector buses, Montgomery RideOn buses, Alexandria DASH buses, Prince George’s County TheBus buses, Arlington Regional Transit buses, VRE trains, and the Silver Line Express.
1. Edit: this happened again, and support is not helping adequately.I've had issues multiple times where my ride doesn't end even after docking the bike.
2. For your own sanity, bypass the app and just use the kiosk instead.Bike locked to the station upon return but didn't show up in the system as returned.
3. Had to argue repeatedly for a refund.Docked the bike, light went green, and the ride wouldn't end.
4. All in all, a broken app, and coincidentally my annual membership is up for renewal, so I'll wait before deciding on to pay for another year.I watched others fight to rent a bike without the app.
5. I was left stranded when I couldn't unlock a bike, and there was no back-up option to unlock using the keypad.
6. Now, I have to plan my route in a Maps app, then return to the bike app to blindly search in the general area of my destination for a dock.
7. Spent a week calling and emailing and even sending a video of the bike locked up at the station.
8. My Profile page opens with no issues, but can't get the Ride History refresh to show previous trips.
9. Great option once the program is understood.Great service, easy to use app! Used the bikes during a 3 day trip to DC.
10. It gives incorrect info on bike availability.
11. I'm currently being charged for a 9 hour ride when I docked after about a 15 minute ride.
