What users are saying

1. Instead what LG does is bombarded with bloatware!Update fail! I really like using this to control my television while watching programs, but after the latest update I lost the remote control that similar to the function I need to operate the controls in the apps.

2. -side note: both the TV and app are on their latest versions, and the app has been reinstalled which did not fix the issue.Ever want to spend 5 minutes or more just trying to turn on your TV because the app takes forever to connect? Ever want to be served ads while just trying to turn on your TV? How about an app that has to be closed and refreshed constantly to connect? I only use this app because I have 2 LG TVs in the same room otherwise I would use a traditional remote in a heartbeat.

3. Vizio and samsung are a step above.Used to be good! Now horrible! 10 versions ago this app work perfectly! Now it's loaded with tons of bloatware and now the app is slow, hard to connect, and the on-screen functions to clear adds & bloatware does not work properly! I don't understand this cause most apps have ads to pay for free version.

4. I wish the program this is restore the remote control function that they used to have up until a couple of weeks agoThis is such a 1st-World problem, but here's the one thing I hate about this app: Even though the appliances are on my LAN and the app talks to them via BT, the app is 100% dependent upon the back-end DB because every bit of data has to go up to LG's servers for data-mining before being sent back down to the app.

5. I have to delete ac from app and put it back on and so the process over and over...why can't it just stay connected...I have a ge ac for yrs and don't use it for 9 months turn it on and it goes right on woth my phone control ...we like to have a schedule for when we are away but u never know when it's going to go offline and have to be re added frustratingThe app is slow as all hell and back.

6. Want to put the appliances behind your home firewall for security purposes? The wi-fi disables itself at the appliance.Latest update broke share video, it now plays on the phone instead of the TV.

7. Sometimes even free isn't worth it.I have numerous apps attached to my phone and this is the only one that keeps going offline and I can't just hit a button to reconnect.

8. To me the point of having a television remote app in your phone if you can't turn on the TV with it.

9. Internet works fine (Netflix etc) remote works fine.

10. The reset process was buggy - the OK button would move, and didn't acknowledge you pressed it or anything was going on.

11. 1 star because it makes the app unusable if it can't connect to the devices it is supposed to control.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix LG ThinQ Issues

1. Fix LG ThinQ Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:

  1. Restart LG ThinQ: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the LG ThinQ App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "LG ThinQ" » Open LG ThinQ » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for LG ThinQ » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear LG ThinQ app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from LG ThinQ servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "LG ThinQ" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check LG ThinQ app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, LG ThinQ might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall LG ThinQ. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall LG ThinQ then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing LG ThinQ not working

2. Fix LG ThinQ Server issues & Internet Connection

  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make LG ThinQ be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to LG ThinQ not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, LG ThinQ may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
