AutoBoy Dash Cam Customer Insights

1. When I play back the video through the app, half the time it shows the speed as zero, and it always shows the location as "Unknown." Worse, when I play back the video using a video player (which is the way you would use it in a courtroom) there is NO display of date, time, speed, or location data ... just the video.

2. The app and/or phone is not keeping the setting saved. The good things first: The video and photo quality are good even when recording under difficult conditions such as rainy nights.

3. The app demands to be loaded at startup and runs in the background when not recording Not only is this sloppy programming, but the app uses lots of energy even in the background- drastically reducing battery life and creating heat which is never good for electronics.

4. A separate gps style text log file would be a great option and I've had an issue where I thought it was recording and got home to see the recording started mid/end trip.

5. I used this app with my Galaxy S8 and it worked great, always recorded, automatically moved to the next file when the time limit reached, etc.

6. Now, using it on a Galaxy S10 the app will at random times stop recording mid-drive and the entirety of the file will be lost.

7. It will continue recording long after I have turned the car off and left even though I have set the auto stop to 1 minute after charger disconnect, Similarly, auto-start will sometimes come on, sometimes not.

8. This app displays your speed and your GPS location along with the date and time while you're driving.

9. At the moment, I've downloaded a trial version of AutoGuard and will come back once more to reinstall AB to see if the issue has been resolved (yes, I uninstalled and reinstalled too).

10. Now for the bad: The app doesn't change recording mode from portrait to landscape and vice versa based on how the device is oriented.

11. Additionally, every time I press "record" I have to give permission for the app to access the file system.
