SmartHQ Customer Insights

1. After completing all the steps I get the error message: "Not able to find your appliance in the SmartHQ Cloud at this time." This can't be the case given it was working for so long.

2. Shouldn't be surprised given that this is General Electric, and formerly great American company that's taken a massive nosedive in recent years.For being called "Smart" this has got to be the least intelligent app I've used in a long time.

3. And a call for WiFi setup help must be successful the first call ... not ending up in a time wasting circle of frustration.

4. It doesn't recognize the wifi it's been paired to for the last three years, and now their settings in the app that make sorting this whole mess out much more tedious than it needs to be.

5. Window air conditioner, WiFi light blinking; typed in the correct password and name multiple times, couldn't auto connect.

6. I've been working with customer service who was actually pretty solid, professional and competent, but we couldn't find the issue and had to escalate.

7. To start off, when I turn on the AC it doesn't start on cool it starts in eco which I have to change every time.

8. Amazon says they are cleared of issues so I guess it takes time to recover from this.Application was running smooth like butter.

9. Here comes the unknown update and now it's taking a long time to connect and let me interact with my ac.

10. Why is it that you appliances worked better in 1993?The most recent update has basically made my air conditioner useless.

11. Also, I tried to send this feedback through the app, but SEND failed with"HTTP 400"Your app is garbage and you've wasted my time.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix SmartHQ Issues

1. Fix SmartHQ Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart SmartHQ: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the SmartHQ App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "SmartHQ" » Open SmartHQ » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for SmartHQ » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear SmartHQ app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from SmartHQ servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "SmartHQ" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check SmartHQ app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, SmartHQ might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall SmartHQ. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall SmartHQ then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing SmartHQ not working


2. Fix SmartHQ Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make SmartHQ be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to SmartHQ not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, SmartHQ may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.

  • I have not received the email verification email so I can not finish account setup to use all of the features of our GE range. Please send the verification email to me so I can complete this.
