1. I highly recommend this app for anyone learning Japanese! The one time fee of $8 is very low for how much value this app provides! It's useful but when attempts to draw the hiragana are being tested, the lines aren't recognised unless they are very precisely where the originals are, which means many frustrating attempts to write a character and then move on to the next.
2. the makers of this app really understand how memory works, so they have a bunch of really clever ways to make you remember the symbols faster and with far superior recall than just forced memorization or flash cards and you learn the symbols not in alfabetical order but instead in an order that makes sense for the 🧠.
3. very well thought out! This app helped me to learn Hiragana and Katakana at my own pace and the mnemonics provided really help you remember the characters.
4. Also, the sensitivity of hiragana 'n' when doing the 'test all characters' is ridiculous! It's the easiest one to learn, but I have to input it a dozen times before I stumble on one it'll accept.
5. I understand the need to make money, I just wish it was more like other language apps where you can choose to speed up the time up by paying rather than restricting all but 7 characters.
6. Or to do a test just on lesson three characters.By far the best for learning hiragana and katakana.
7. (Note: you don't learn any of the language this way though so I use both together to help me learn)I like it showing you where you can find that sound in English words.
8. It gives you really good building blocks to help you remember everything and it helps you practice correctly writing each character.
9. It was a lot harder than I was expecting when I first got started, but the reviews make you draw each character multiple times and then plays the sound after each one so you end up learning then very well.
10. Right now the only way to study characters again is one at a time and then you have to go through the complete menu system again after each character.
11. I wanted to just do the lesson quickly to unlock the other words, but the writing exercises are forcing you to write at the exact positions to get it right and you can't pass unless if you do.
