myStudentAid Customer Insights

1. App keeps going randomly non-responsive/receptive: no keyboard available to enter info, or, no characters show up and cursor does not advance Choosing CLOSE on non-responsive keyboard shuts down application, saving nothing, and requiring all info to be entered again, as, apparently auto-complete also isn't functioning on this site.

2. I cannot tap back into a field or bring up the keyboard after I've tapped out of it for any reason, nor tap into any successive field at all leading to having to reenter ALL information from the very beginning once again.

3. The IRS Data Transfer tool was also very useful as it transferred almost all the information I needed from my returns.I get all the way to where I need to sign & it freezes, then says I've logged out.

4. Very frustrating! Not reccomended! We've also tried the app on my daughters school laptop- and it freezes up before you can even enter the school information.Really good app.

5. It was very easy to use and provided a lot of helpful tools and information that made the process a breeze compared to what some others had said about it in previous years.

6. It seemed fine the first couple of days, but then started acting up by not letting me submit after completing actions/applications...it would act like it was loading after clicking submit and then it would just remain on the same screen.

7. Tried to reset my password and I got an error message, no text to reset password.

8. I get past the log in page, then click Accept, then it says to wait while my information is processing.

9. Tried different devices, different browsers, nothing works! Please FIX!Huge prob w/ app from the very beginning I have a Galaxy Note 10 & I am creating an acct.

10. From logging out when the app is put in the background to losing the application in the middle to asking for data that could have been pulled from elsewhere (last freaking year for example).

11. Very frustrating considering this seems to be the only way to apply for aide for my rural students!The app doesn't work at all a week into having it.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix myStudentAid Issues

1. Fix myStudentAid Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart myStudentAid: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the myStudentAid App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "myStudentAid" » Open myStudentAid » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for myStudentAid » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear myStudentAid app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from myStudentAid servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "myStudentAid" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check myStudentAid app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, myStudentAid might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall myStudentAid. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall myStudentAid then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing myStudentAid not working


2. Fix myStudentAid Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make myStudentAid be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to myStudentAid not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, myStudentAid may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
