Duolingo Customer Insights

1. I'm cancelling the paid version.It's an app so one can't expect to learn a language perfectly with it, but it was very good for practicing a language, however, the format was changed from the "tree" to the single learning path.

2. Every single time I finish a lesson my phone just sits on a blank screen for 20 seconds before it says "congrats you finished!" & gives an ad 🙄It's great! It could be much better, though, if you could learn at your own pace without paying.

3. Overall it's good for a simple introduction to a language.Overall a good app with quick lessons which are good to help learn new words.

4. The translations can be messy and are often wrong.This is a good app for learning words in a new language, especially for beginners.

5. It is helping me learn, but I feel like it could do better.Overall good I appreciate learning tools that give you instant feedback during tests and practices.

6. Returning from lessons doesn't always update the screen because server side lag.

7. Now, all the lessons are in one learning path, and in order to get ahead to more advanced material you have to skip through a whole section.

8. You can no longer use the stories to learn the language in a natural format, and it takes 5 times as long to move to the next level.

9. Before, lessons were categorized according to subject and difficulty, making it easy to practice certain topics.

10. It has to be updated much more frequently, it often doesn't give you the points (XP) it says you'll get after each lesson, so climbing the leader board takes too long.

11. This app is really cute, it shows adorable illustrations of each translation and adds fun characters to make the learning more interesting.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Duolingo Issues

1. Fix Duolingo Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Duolingo: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Duolingo App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Duolingo" » Open Duolingo: Language Lessons » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Duolingo » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Duolingo: Language Lessons app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Duolingo servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Duolingo: Language Lessons" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Duolingo app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Duolingo might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Duolingo. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Duolingo then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Duolingo not working


2. Fix Duolingo Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Duolingo be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Duolingo not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Duolingo may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.

    Ich habe seit ein paar Wochen ein neues Handy und seitdem kann ich leider nur noch die normale Version nutzen obwohl ich die Plus Version für 12 Monate vorher gekauft habe. Leider sind auch alle früheren Fortschritte verloren gegangen - gibt es eine Möglichkeit diese wiederherzustellen? Falls mein Account sich nicht wieder auf den Plus Status upgraden lassen sollte bitte ich um eine Rückmeldung und die Kündigung des Abos - sollten noch Fragen offen sein können Sie mich natürlich ebenfalls gern kontaktieren.
