GRTC Customer Insights

1. Sometimes it will show a bus going the opposite direction as the one you're waiting for, causing you to stand outside looking dumbThe busses sometimes do not show at all nor are they tracked, the app is outdated, some stops aren't shown and other problems where it says a bus is coming and I'm still waiting 2 hours at the wrong stop.I'm so happy they finally fixed the bug where Android users couldn't autofill their destination (it caused a lot of really weird interactions, like assuming I was referring to an address in Illinois even if input manually)This app is good except for the fact the location detection keeps causing errors so unless i know the exact address of where i am at and where I am going then it brings up some extremely random routes that says it takes 57 hours to get to where i am going lolThe expected arrival times don't match up with when the buses actually arrive.

2. Also, I don't know why it doesn't give the bus stop numbers on the route direction page.Doesn't update in real time, busses are missing from the map so you'll frequently miss buses.

3. I often find that the buses come much earlier than the app would indicate.What's the point of having a bus location button when you're buses are so off schedule that they can't place a time it gets to your stop.

4. When I use the "Where are you going" search it always says "an error has occurred".

5. Sometimes buses that are incoming disappear, leaving me at a station for way longer than I want to be.

6. Then there's not much of a point to use itIt doesn't work well on Android.

7. I also can no longer type in a destination when planning a ride and have search results come up.

8. This app is very helpful when using the bus system, but it needs major work done.

9. There is just an error message that shows up.

10. I wish it updated your phone's and the bus's locations more frequently though.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix GRTC Issues

1. Fix GRTC Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart GRTC: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the GRTC App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "GRTC" » Open GRTC » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for GRTC » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear GRTC app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from GRTC servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "GRTC" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check GRTC app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, GRTC might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall GRTC. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall GRTC then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing GRTC not working


2. Fix GRTC Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make GRTC be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to GRTC not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, GRTC may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
