MyHeritage Customer Insights

1. Colourized photos look surprisingly really nice but cannot be saved or utilized.After a problem with my subscription, I contacted support on a Friday and by Monday morning my problem was resolved (and I was compensated for the time that I was not able to access my subscription).

2. Great app, but I wish you could link family members that already exist on your tree to others (I think you can do this on the browser, but I'm not sure---either way, it's a great feature missing from the app.) In relation to that, after the last update, a handful of my family members became disconnected from each other & it's incredibly frustrating.

3. When you upload photos and it takes you to the next screen to rotate, the photo never shows up and you can't confirm the upload, you have to close the app and reopen it.Cannot detect faces in photos of faces.

4. In fact, to purchase a sub, they require your account number -- how ridiculous is that!! Absolute rip-off: Even when I upgraded to the 2nd level, everything they sent me needed a further upgrade to access the data, and so on!!!The concept is good.

5. Making that feature available would be of great help! Plans could use a revamp too.It's just okay, after using it for over a year I've downgraded from 3 starts to 2 stars.

6. I have been charged $119.99 and Im having a difficult time getting what I paid for or a refund.If you're downloading it for the animation don't even bother.

7. I highly recommend CALLING customer support, especially for billing problems or problems canceling free trials.

8. Once you views three different sets it kicks you out and your stuck with whatever last animation you looked at no matter how it looks.

9. I haven't had time to use the app much, as I prefer my searches on a larger, PC screen, but I really like the photo tool.

10. They need to upgrade their servers to handle more traffic; especially since Jan 2021 there have been more slow downs and error msgs.

11. Update after their response : sure you can input info, that I assume other people can access.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix MyHeritage Issues

1. Fix MyHeritage Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart MyHeritage: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the MyHeritage App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "MyHeritage" » Open MyHeritage: Family Tree & DNA » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for MyHeritage » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear MyHeritage: Family Tree & DNA app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from MyHeritage servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "MyHeritage: Family Tree & DNA" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check MyHeritage app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, MyHeritage might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall MyHeritage. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall MyHeritage then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing MyHeritage not working


2. Fix MyHeritage Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make MyHeritage be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to MyHeritage not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, MyHeritage may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
