1. I don’t know whether this is a device-specific issue or not, but I can't give more than one star until it is fixed because being able to see what page you're on is a pretty basic feature.Google Play Books is a must have app if you love reading.
2. (It actually does this if I make the folded angle about 120 degrees, but it should do this when the phone is opened wide and flat.) Right now, when the phone is opened wide and flat, Google Play Books renders it as a single, wide page.Decent enough navigation.
3. Please make it so when I open the phone in the normal wide configuration that Google Play Books shows two pages split down the middle, with the Fold's crease like the binding of a book.
4. I also find it hard to search for the exact book I want the search doesn't seem to be that smart at all. While physical books will always have a special place in the hearts of many including me, their limitations via print size, fragility and misplacement make electronic forms and delivery a near necessity.
5. And you can buy books on other websites, like Smashwords and have them uploaded to Google books, which is easier than on Kindle.I really want to like Google books because audible forces you into a subscription plan.
6. Play Books offers a variety of reading options at very reasonable prices.
7. otherwise the experience is great. There's an issue with the page numbers where sometimes they repeat, meaning you'll be on page 3, turn the page, and the next page (really page 4) will also say page 3.
8. I don't know, maybe some form of reading goal you could meet? This probably is just a me thing as well but I wish my bookshelf felt more like an actual bookshelf than just a list.
9. If you're just reading page to page, it's okay.
10. They also changed it so when you upload an epub rather than show the book in the app as uploading it doesn't show up at all until it's finished uploading.
11. You can sample the books and then decide if you want to buy them or not.
