The MeatStick Customer Insights

1. A disappointment from start to finish.Update 09282022: Looks like the app may have gotten an update to include the exact information I request below in terms of the user interface! Also, looks like the first MS I got may have been defective and they replaced it without question! Again, 5 for customer service! Support gets a 5! I have had an issue my MS and they took my issues seriously! The MS requires Location to be turned on on your phone when you run the app.

2. Constant disconnections, asks for far more access than it should need, range is an issue (even with extender), have to jump through hoops just to use the basic temp function, updates fail to work, etc.

3. I've been trying for 2 days to connect to my phone app, it states that the extender connects, but no stick found.

4. Can someone explain why my meat thermometer absolutely MUST have location data? Additionally, the stick itself has never made it through an entire smoke without disconnecting, rendering it utterly useless.

5. The UI as many others have said is clunky, the extender and stick constantly lose connection with your phone.

6. Your "customer service" cannot help.The sticks are ok, they lose connection constantly though so pretty useless.

7. The battery meter is inconsistent and I wish there was away meter the charge before I start the cook.Absolutely infuriating app to work with.

8. Last brisket I cooked the stick disconnected around 82 times over 8 hours despite the wifi extender more or less kissing the stick.

9. What does this mean? What am I supposed to do next? Instead of a blank screen in place of this it should offer a suggestion as to what you might want to do: Please turn on your MeatStick or Use + to add a new device.

10. Getting the stick connected to your phone is almost impossible.

11. Support says that it is required to make the Bluetooth work correctly but I am unsold.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix The MeatStick Issues

1. Fix The MeatStick Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart The MeatStick: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the The MeatStick App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "The MeatStick" » Open The MeatStick » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for The MeatStick » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear The MeatStick app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from The MeatStick servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "The MeatStick" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check The MeatStick app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, The MeatStick might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall The MeatStick. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall The MeatStick then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing The MeatStick not working


2. Fix The MeatStick Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make The MeatStick be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to The MeatStick not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, The MeatStick may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.

Reported Issues

Note: Issues displayed have already been sent to the developer and are older than 7 days.

  • these probes are from a kickstaarter campaign of 2018. They have never been used. I decided to use them but they will not connect to the APP. The Mini X probe has been in the charging base for a day with fresh batteries. This probe connect and needed the upgrade firmware. That went flawless, but when I was told to connect the probe, NO PROBE IS FOUND was the message I received. I have retried several times. I have turned the charging base on and off several times. I have removed the probe and reinserted the probe into the base several times. The green light is on on the base.
    The Meatstick 2018 long probe has been on the charging base with the USB connection for 20 hours. The RED light is still flashing RED. This probe has a chip in the ceramic coating right where the ceramic attaches to the metal of the Probe. Again these probes have never been used since I have always used my MEATER PROBES or wired probes. I decided to try these but they don't want to work. Can you please help.
