Tesla Customer Insights

1. I've ensured the app is updated, as well as the car, but continue to have issues.There is a lag between when i open the app and the time it connects to the car - sometimes the loading/connecting takes a while so I have to turn on/off my phone's airplane mode to "power cycle" my internet connection (both wifi & cellular) to get it to connect.

2. Yes my phone and car have good quality connections (fibre, solid WiFi).Normally, this app rates 5*, but when I'm charging and want to lie down to sleep in the back seat, the app refuses to turn the AC on below a certain charge level.

3. The developers even added the ability to schedule charging right from the app, as requested by many of us users! As far as other requests go, we'd love the ability to receive an alert and view a live feed (or at least a snapshot) from the car's cameras as soon as Sentry Mode detects something going on.

4. I've been using the same phone for a very long time, no changes, and yet I am having these issues with the car starting.

5. I think it should also have a feature to turn on the headlights remotely, not just flash in case I need the light in a dark garage because the automatic garage lights turned off.

6. The latest version sends 2 notifications when you turn on climate management to let you know your car is at the desired temperature.When it's working, it's great.

7. I hope the next update to the app can connect to the car faster w/o internet connectivity power cycling.There are certain screens that never load.

8. Slow to talk to the car, slow to talk to the servers e.g. for messaging the service centre.

9. That would make sense except for 2 things: first, the car will use AC if I'm in the driver's seat; second, it's charging! It has energy coming in.

10. If I submit a Service Request, I can't see the response! LolRelative to other car manufacturers, this app is exemplary.

11. I thought the charging stats bug had been fixed, but daylight savings happened and it's back.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Tesla Issues

1. Fix Tesla Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Tesla: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Tesla App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Tesla" » Open Tesla » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Tesla » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Tesla app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Tesla servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Tesla" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Tesla app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Tesla might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Tesla. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Tesla then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Tesla not working


2. Fix Tesla Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Tesla be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Tesla not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Tesla may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
