Come on, Seagate, it isn't that hard to rework the media app so that it works on TV-size screens.Just sits on the first screen, doesnt do crap.Long time waiting seeing my movies directly on tvDoes not cast from my Chromebook.AwesomeThis is just a media receiver app(as the name says), I downloaded on my Sony Android TV expecting it to have added advantage of file browser for my NAS drive.

2. There's no point Seagate has spent time to develop this app just to receive media although all Android TV''s comes with screen mirroring & casting capabilities.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Seagate Media Receiver Issues

1. Fix Seagate Media Receiver Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Seagate Media Receiver: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Seagate Media Receiver App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Seagate Media Receiver" » Open Seagate Media Receiver » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Seagate Media Receiver » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Seagate Media Receiver app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Seagate Media Receiver servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Seagate Media Receiver" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Seagate Media Receiver app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Seagate Media Receiver might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Seagate Media Receiver. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Seagate Media Receiver then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Seagate Media Receiver not working


2. Fix Seagate Media Receiver Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Seagate Media Receiver be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Seagate Media Receiver not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Seagate Media Receiver may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
