1. Has way too many ads (around 15 ads each 45 minute episode), crashes all of the time and says the show is unavailable (which results in me watching even more ads), and doesn't have that great of an interface.

2. Review on this also just disappeared the first time I wrote it and I had to rewrite it from the start! This is without question the worst cable provider app I have ever usedIf you use Chromecast, there's an NBC "Ready to Cast" banner along the bottom that won't go away.

3. If you close the movie part way through it doesn't save it but rather you must start it from the beginning and while you can fast forward through the movie, you have to watch all the commercials again.

4. That way you can cast the show that you actually want to watch.Downloaded this app on a smartTV in order to watch on a large screen, but the app glitches constantly.

5. I have 7 or 8 streaming apps, this one is the worst.Awful app, I only use it because it's the quickest way to watch new episodes from the shows I like.

6. But every time you rewind and hit a commercial break you have to watch it all over again, with no options to skip.

7. I have a great internet connection and have never had any issues with other cable channel apps.

8. I think it would be better if they put the little "cast" icon on the actual show you're watching instead of on the home screen only.

9. This app has buffered and disconnected me so many times, hardly ever saves where I left off, have to watch 50 million ads to find where I left off, plus it's a pain in the butt to skip ahead or behind.

10. The commercial breaks are randomly inserted, often cutting a person off mid sentence even if there was time for a break a minute later.

11. Fast forward and reverse if used frequently results in the movie stopping and you have to go through commercials again when you reopen in attempt to get back.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix SYFY Issues

1. Fix SYFY Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart SYFY: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the SYFY App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "SYFY" » Open SYFY » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for SYFY » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear SYFY app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from SYFY servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "SYFY" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check SYFY app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, SYFY might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall SYFY. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall SYFY then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing SYFY not working


2. Fix SYFY Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make SYFY be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to SYFY not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, SYFY may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
