MODALapp Customer Insights

1. I tried a cable to adapt the USB (which works fine between my laptop and mobile) but the app still won't recognise the craft synth ☹sadly this will not update the available update for the CraftRhythm due to a "connection" error 500, leaving the device stuck in update mode rendering it useless... but wait support responded swiftly and informed me about their site server issue sent me a temp link and all is well, thank you modal support!I'm really confused whatever I do it won't connect the otg and USB cablea work i tried multiple cables and otg adapters... Very puzzled.

2. it suggests to 'repair' the firmware on synth, but after i invoke firmware update on the synth, the process got stuck on 'UPDATE waiting for modalapp connection...' foreverApp doesn't launch at all.

3. (reply to developer: I have contacted your customer support twice and its been ages and no reply.)Edited review (04/22): The app works well for me on an Android 8.1 phone using an otg cable.

4. Quite annoying to try to adjust a parameter but instead of pressing the control on the screen I have to touch 1-2 cm to the side somewhat guessing if I'm going to be able to adjust what I want to.

5. Using it on older versions of Android on different tech had varying results.Great app for my Craft2.

6. On the downside, the small icons can be a bit fiddly, even on an 11-inch touchscreen; because there is so much information on screen at once, it's best to use the app with a large touchscreen.

7. Pretty disappointing as it's really useful for controlling my Skulpt synth.I loved this app until I got a new Samsung galaxy a70.

8. When opening the app it gets stuck on a black screen.

9. But overall excellent so far.edit: out of blue the app started to work......... was: app not working with my cobalt8.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix MODALapp Issues

1. Fix MODALapp Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart MODALapp: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the MODALapp App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "MODALapp" » Open MODALapp » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for MODALapp » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear MODALapp app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from MODALapp servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "MODALapp" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check MODALapp app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, MODALapp might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall MODALapp. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall MODALapp then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing MODALapp not working


2. Fix MODALapp Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make MODALapp be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to MODALapp not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, MODALapp may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
