Masterbuilt Classic Customer Insights

1. A family member had to get the app and connecI just replaced an older Masterbuilt smoker (with remote) with a new one, with bluetooth, and, to be honest, I didnt expect the app to even work, since it has such low ratings.

2. Several attempts were made to reconnect without success, including unplugging smoker and restarting a couple of times per the instructions.

3. The functions work, but the cutoff screens are annoying.Can't even connect to my own smoker.

4. When the app disconnects and then reconnects to the smoker, it resets the timer on the smoker back to the original time.

5. Then lose Bluetooth connection because you walk away, or kill the app because it locked up (fixing that too would be nice), and then reconnect.

6. It's been nothing but problems since I've bought this smoker.Was perfect but for some reason today in the middle of cooking it stopped connecting to my smoker.

7. Finally got it connected but left range of Bluetooth and lost connection.

8. App updated and I had to reconnect my smoker, that's pretty annoying.

9. Today, the timer will set from the app but won't count down even though it is counting on the unit.When I pull up the Masterbuilt app, the bottom half of the welcome screen is cut off.

10. But, it still won't reconnect to the smoker even after removing the device and trying to reconnect.

11. Now when I'm standing right next to it I can set the temp on the app, it does change on the smoker, but doesn't show up on the app.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Masterbuilt Classic Issues

1. Fix Masterbuilt Classic Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Masterbuilt Classic: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Masterbuilt Classic App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Masterbuilt Classic" » Open Masterbuilt Classic » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Masterbuilt Classic » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Masterbuilt Classic app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Masterbuilt Classic servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Masterbuilt Classic" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Masterbuilt Classic app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Masterbuilt Classic might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Masterbuilt Classic. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Masterbuilt Classic then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Masterbuilt Classic not working


2. Fix Masterbuilt Classic Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Masterbuilt Classic be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Masterbuilt Classic not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Masterbuilt Classic may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.

  • I have a Masterbuilt Butterball Model 23012511 turkey fryer and in need of a controller/element. Mine has quit working. I've tried to contact Masterbuilt via their website, however, having issues even after signing up and submitting pictures, as requested. I have checked the outlet, electrical cord and controller/element in housing. I do believe I need a new controller/element. Your assistance please.
