1. Calibrate option – If you have a calibrated SPL meter or known loudness source, you can use this option to calibrate the meter. (However its still for Indication Only).
2. This app uses the microphone to detect sound and convert it into an SPL value. FOR INDICATION ONLY.
3. Weighting – A, C or None . (A weighting filters the high and low frequencies according to how the ear perceives sound loudness).
4. Relative button – if looking for differences, tapping REL will remove the current averaged value from the reading.
5. Sound Pressure Level Meter.
6. Octaves and third octaves - Frequency spectrum of the sound.
7. The range between the noise floor and saturation may be only 20 dB on the worst devices, but could exceed 100 dB on the best devices.
8. Results are in dB, dBA or dBC depending on weighting.
9. Results depend on your device and its hardware.
10. More technical details can be found on the website.
1. Would be better if you could remove ads though.Altho i got different readings with different phones, i'd blame microphones and skip to the point: it does the job, it looks nice and it has no commercial stuff in it.No where near what an ACTUAL SPL meter (Term Lab, which is used by NASA) reads.
2. Interface is also kind of old-looking and sluggish.NOT accurate! I tested a few different SPL meter apps compared to a proper spl meter and this app was the most innacute out of the ones I tested.
3. Numbers totally wrong out of the gate, says 90dB from A/C noise and normal 'inside voice' conversation when other apps more accurately start at around 62dB before calibration.
4. Ads are not intrusive, and it seems to be pretty consistentI think this app is good but you need to strictly callibrate it with another app or a real spl meter.
5. Out of the box it reads too loud.As a ex professional in the audio business I've found this app is great , once calibrated it proved to be a very usefull tool.
6. the proper meter was reading 95db and this app was reading 105.
7. Not a great app needs fixingSimply brilliant, but does depend on hardware capability.
8. That fact that it uses your tiny microphone in your phone to take measurements SHOULD tell you that this app is painfully inaccurate.
9. Look up your hardware specs and you'll quickly realize how limited your microphone on your phone REALLY is.Simple and functional.
10. Of course you have to calibrate it in order to get repeatability, as any known SPL Meter.
11. thats a big difference! also lots of ads in the app.Base level numbers starting out or way high.
