TopsView Customer Insights

1. I have to keep going into my settings and forcing it to stop, otherwise it drains the battery withing 2 hours..This has always been a great app however since its last update it seems to upload the entire contents of the phone, eats battery and heats the phone.

2. Also, why does the app need access to the phone's camera, location, microphone, storage and telephone? Is someone spying on my activities? The is an app to monitor CCTV footages, I understand there might be a need to access storage and microphone, but there is no reason why it needs to have access to my location, camera and phone.

3. Replays all files ok with good imaging since paying for the cloud server no longer free.Horrible app! Since the last update I can not change the camera settings to HD anymore and the app stays on in the background even when closed.

4. After appearing the "exit or not" window, don't press any button, force exit from the application.drains a lot of battery, phone over heats.

5. They definitely don't need this as the app was working fine before and this also drains the battery.I find my phone with dead battery in the mornings after installing the app.

6. and about timeline play back, cannot work.Heating the phone and eating the battery very fast.

7. I have found a way to get by this problem, ANDROID USESRS, log in to your (local login) CCTV as usual then on exit tap and hold the TopsView app, tap app info then force stop.

8. before the update it was okayish, but now it has become horrible, needs all sorts of permissions, and keeps running in the background, even when not in use.

9. They now want permission for location, storage, microphone, camera etc and won't let you use the app without it.

10. I cannot use for streaming via 3G and 4G ( connection time out 4110) but wifi has worked.

11. It's only connecting while on the Wi-Fi connection to which the DVR is connected.Cannot use fo 4G and playback Hi, if anyone know to fix these , please tell me.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix TopsView Issues

1. Fix TopsView Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart TopsView: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the TopsView App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "TopsView" » Open TopsView » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for TopsView » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear TopsView app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from TopsView servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "TopsView" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check TopsView app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, TopsView might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall TopsView. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall TopsView then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing TopsView not working


2. Fix TopsView Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make TopsView be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to TopsView not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, TopsView may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.

  • I can not view cameras on my topsview app from mobile data. The cameras are only available when mobile is connected with same WiFi with the dvr

  • i purchased these two sets of cctv - dvr with cameras. it suddenly did not function a year ago (i think). when i tried to fix it, i just knew that the access from my phone from a diff location will need a cloud service. is it possible that i can access them tru the dvr whicj is connectred to the interent since i have harddisck connected to it for storage..

    I installed topsview app , i can see my cams when i connect to wifi than connectet to dvr, but in my cellphone i cannt see cams with my cellular data , i think p2p is not working on my dvr.

  • I recently changed my phone from a Samsung Note 9 to an IPhone 13. Ive been trying to get the app to show what it shows on my Note 9 but it’s not allowing me saying my account does not exist. I’m not very good at technology but I bought a subscription so why can I not access on my new phone?
