WPXI Customer Insights

1. Crappy design app makers.This app won't automatically play stories... If I'm getting ready for work I do t want yo have to stop ever 2 min to see why the news stopped.... It also doesn't seem to do anything but load it vary rarely plays well like the other wpxi app way better, update.

2. It's been getting ridiculous lately.The app causes the phone's screen to stay on even if you set your phone to turn the screen off after a certain amount of time (which is the default for almost every phone).

3. You cant see the full screen, the button to go full screen doesn't work, and the app doesnt change when you rotate your phone.

4. This is by far the worst app to use I love wpxi but unfortunately i am uninstalling it for different local news application.Videos in stories only play horizontally.

5. However the ads seem to have increased and are becoming obnoxious.Liked the app, but it's been at least a month since they put, as one of the top 3 headlines, how they were unwilling to pay Dish Network enough to keep their channel.

6. UPDATE 9/25/2020 found that if I disable WiFi, the app connects! If I re-enable WiFi, it works for a while, then loses connectivity again.

7. Wastes an incredible amount of battery.Far better looking than other local station apps.

8. The only really annoying thing is that I have every alert turned off except newsroom alerts, and I'm getting what still feels to be about 20-30 alerts a day sometimes.

9. Not sure how many people have to complain before the problem is addressed.Am in the Oklahoma City are for the next couple months.

10. Even if a half hour was uploaded it would be nice.3rd either turn off notifications or receive too many per day, most of which aren't worthy of a notification.

11. Since last week(week of September 14th) it won't load and tells me to check my connection.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix WPXI Issues

1. Fix WPXI Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart WPXI: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the WPXI App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "WPXI" » Open WPXI - Channel 11 News » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for WPXI » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear WPXI - Channel 11 News app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from WPXI servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "WPXI - Channel 11 News" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check WPXI app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, WPXI might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall WPXI. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall WPXI then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing WPXI not working


2. Fix WPXI Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make WPXI be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to WPXI not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, WPXI may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
