Virgin Media Play Customer Insights

1. It goes without saying that this is a huge amount of ads, but x2?????? Most of the time I stop watching and get fed up when this happens, it's taking me a LONG time to catch up on Love Island, and I might not watch it again this yearIt's shocking putting ads in the middle of live events when there are not supposed to be ads, happens a lot where it'll be an important moment in the match and it'll cut to an ad in the middle of the play then you miss it.

2. Brilliant if you love watching ads, otherwise pretty uselessTerrible app, can't stream because It keeps freezing on the ads and then you have to watch 6 ads multiple times, and when it finally starts you have to scrub to where you were.

3. Ads during live sport is totally unacceptable, ire v eng 6 nations grand slam and triple crown on the line and twice during live play ads start playing.

4. Especially annoying when watching a live event (for example a penalty shootout in the Europa League final.) Chromecast playback is also abysmal when casting.

5. Iv been trying to watch the news @5.30. I'm only been given the option of watch 2 episodes from the previous week.

6. Also, no Love Island available for more than a week now... I work nights and relied on this app to keep up to date... very frustrating 😪A horrible app to try and use.

7. App seems like an afterthought – poorly implemented (even by afterthought standards).The video playback feature rarely remembers correctly where you've stopped watching.

8. Within a few minutes the audio goes out of sync, and if you open the app on your phone at any point the stream refreshes and about 20 million ads start playing.

9. Has this player even been tested?Awful app, which shows an obscene amount of ads everytime you want to so much as pause a video.

10. Polling also forces play to stop, if a valid offsite connection switches to Wi-Fi.

11. Then when there is no ads it's constantly freezing no matter the device or signal speed.Ridiculous constant polling.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Virgin Media Play Issues

1. Fix Virgin Media Play Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Virgin Media Play: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Virgin Media Play App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Virgin Media Play" » Open Virgin Media Play » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Virgin Media Play » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Virgin Media Play app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Virgin Media Play servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Virgin Media Play" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Virgin Media Play app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Virgin Media Play might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Virgin Media Play. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Virgin Media Play then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Virgin Media Play not working

  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Virgin Media Play be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Virgin Media Play not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Virgin Media Play may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
