1. The only things I wish they would include are a direct translation menu, so you can build your own phrases to learn them/ lookup words not provided in the courses, an option to create your own vocabulary tests, have an option to turn on a mask/hide your native language in all courses to better assist with learning to reading the course language, and make the articulation microphone test available for all content to assist with proper pronunciation. As someone trying to learn Croatian, finding an app that actually teaches the language is one thing, but finding one that isn't basically a dictionary is another.
2. Really enjoying the app and able to study on it for longer periods now I am making progress.Best language app I found for Croatian, for my vacation! Great lessons and lesson organization (e.g. restaurants, travel, meeting people).
3. However, even though I have premium and use all of the tools available for help (such as tapping on words for meaning), this language is so dynamic that I either haven't found or can't apply rules for how words transform under different use cases, and so it's hard to reap the benefits of learning through usage.
4. I hadn't realised it's actually multi-language, which is presumably why it has a set of lessons that teach you to say a dozen language-names in Croatian - but Croatian isn't one of them! As with any language app there are places where a correct translation (entirely synonymous in English with the one it wants) is marked wrong.
5. Instead of just teaching you how to write out Croatian with words and phrases, it also gives you conversation lessons in which you can work on your pronunciation.
6. I'm using the app alongside the free language course from the university of Zagreb with the support of my Croatian partner.
7. The only thing I struggle with is recording the phrases, the app doesn't record when I press the button, so it fails me! Overall, I'm seeing great results using this app and supplementing it with in person conversations.
8. However, almost a month in, I am starting to learn how to use the app to best suit my learning style and Jane made leaps with my vocabulary and also seeing how that vocabulary fits into useful sentences.
9. It does not get into grammar and composition (even in its grammar modules), only canned responses.Okay, this app is an INSTANT winner - it takes time to learn how to get the best out of it and for the first 3 or 4 weeks I found it confusing and occasionally boring.
10. My partner and baby are Serbian and it is hard to find an app teaching Serbian so I learn Croatian through Mondly and he points out the differences.
11. I'd recommend this app to anyone trying to learn Croatian. The audio and microphone don't work.
