1. And I also added the app to "Never Sleeping Apps" in Background Usage Limits to no avail.What the carp? I continue to miss surges because your app doesn't notify me, even though it is running! You cost me money! EDIT: Deleting the data and cache did NOT work.

2. BTW I had purchased this app last year, even though it was buggy back then still preformed a hundred times better than now.[v1.0.38 as of 20210817] Once open, it works for a certain amount of time then it just stops working.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Surge Issues

1. Fix Surge Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Surge: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Surge App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Surge" » Open Surge for Uber » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Surge » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Surge for Uber app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Surge servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Surge for Uber" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Surge app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Surge might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Surge. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Surge then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Surge not working


2. Fix Surge Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Surge be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Surge not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Surge may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
