What users are saying

1. The frequent disconnects from devices at this point are weekly & annoying enough for me to not recommend the app, if only they could be managed with a different reliable app...Once working on the home network... it is great, but the moment something happens to the power (flicker)... it takes days to reset... sonos network software is the most unreliable system that I have ever worked with... we have our speakers up high and hidden... why in the world would you design a network where you have to have a ladder, climb up,and push the button on each device to reset... crazy... It looks like audio engineers had a Shotgun marriage with an IT idiot... Previous was a big fan!2023-06 mostly good and stable now.

2. I go to save it and I don't know what playlist I want to save to, because I have so many and the system won't reveal what it being used. For 6 months the app disconnected speakers from the network seemingly at random, forced hard restarts, toggling on and off wifi and a host of other errors and annoyances, essentially making the speakers paper weights.

3. I have to reinitialize my system each time I want to change my settings.Sonos sounds good but I can't really recommend it due to new bugs that regularly appear and mar the experience.

4. Let's see if it holds...the app is back at it again dumping speakers from my system but now I only have to toggle the wifi on and off instead of rebooting individual speakers and router constantly. When everything in the app works it's fine.

5. Very frustrating.Randomly decides to not show the option to listen to your local library, even if you are currently listening to a playlist from it (as someone who downloads all their music, this quite literally prevents me from using my speaker at all).

6. Don't waste your time with this horrible service and just get a wireless speaker which works on its own without this garbage.Editing review 1 year after initial review, still same problems.

7. Horrible app Horrible customer support.I use this (signed out) for spotify shuffle at work, and it is fine right up until it wants to show you an ad, then it seems to trip over itself.

8. Lately the app intermittently loses access to all or some of the speakers making the point of Sonos speakers irrelevant.

9. I only have one network, both my phone and Sonos system are actively connected.

10. The stream stops entirely sometimes without any audio for even the ad, and needs either to be stopped and reopened to advance, or the session needs to be ended and reset, losing all progress and starting over from the same set of songs.

11. Certain functions like the "add song to playlist" button and others just outright don't work.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Sonos Issues

1. Fix Sonos Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:

  1. Restart Sonos: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Sonos App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Sonos" » Open Sonos » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Sonos » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Sonos app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Sonos servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Sonos" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Sonos app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Sonos might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Sonos. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Sonos then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Sonos not working

2. Fix Sonos Server issues & Internet Connection

  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Sonos be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Sonos not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Sonos may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
