1. Amazing transfer speeds, incredibly simple, clean & straight forward interface, super smart placement of files (automagically sends music files along to my Music folder, I assume it does the same for video files & the video folder) and, best of all for me personally and what makes me absolutely psyched to have found this app - I DON'T HAVE TO DISCONNECT MY VPN TO USE IT! Every other app I've tried has thrown a fit over both my phone & my PC being connected to VPN servers.The concept is great, and transferring files is easy.

2. And neither the Play Store description nor the app made it very clear that only one way push is available.Portal allows you to easily transfer files from any web browser to your phone.

3. I have a folder of folders of folders of files, 400 items in all, and I don't want to transfer them one at a time.

5. Such a pityExcellent app, very easy to use, but only transfers files in one direction, from computer to Android phone.

6. It doesn't work that way - it only works to send files from PC to phone (why would I want that?).

8. When it can transfer in both directions, and has internal file moving capability, it will get 10 stars!!!For two weeks, I have tried numerous file transfer apps.

9. Copied 8 video files from PC to phone.

10. Portal transferred mostly empty folders, with one small file or one empty folder in some of them.

11. I couldn't set it to transfer anywhere else, because it kept cycling between "show SD card/hide file size" and "Recent/Internal storage/SD card" without responding to my touch.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Portal Issues

1. Fix Portal Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Portal: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Portal App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Portal" » Open Portal - WiFi File Transfers » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Portal » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Portal - WiFi File Transfers app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Portal servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Portal - WiFi File Transfers" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Portal app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Portal might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Portal. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Portal then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Portal not working


2. Fix Portal Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Portal be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Portal not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Portal may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
