Penzu Customer Insights

1. It would be extremely appreciated if this conflict could be fixed, so I can continue writing long messages if needed.I love the concept of Penzu and have enjoyed using it for my journaling purposes, but lately I've noticed that when trying to create links in the app, it will suddenly crash.

2. If you do use Penzu just be warned that this is not a reliable place to store serious writing.I have been using the free version.

3. Also it would be nice to have some geo tags to mark where something was written, or posted.I love the concept, but I do not recommend Penzu for any serious writing.

4. Please change that feature, and I'll rate 5 stars.I've been on Penzu for over a year, on the computer this service is great.

5. I've been thru a tough decade (several close family members healed in Heaven, car accidents, broken hearts, work challenges, weight gains, job losses, etc).

6. it shouldn't take ten minutes to get a blank page.I've used Penzu in the past and I LOVED the fact that I could personalize each entry by attaching pics.

7. I don't seem to have issues with the desktop version, but the app on Android has issues lately and most of my writing is via tablet.

8. Once you click the app it says synchronizing for a good four to five minutes then when the journey loads it takes another four to five minutes on a blank page just saying LOADING.

9. I upgraded my phone (I was using app on a 6 year old phone, so I thought it could be an old operating system issue), but I still got sync errors on the upgraded phone.

10. One suggest though, I wish there were more features to organise the contents.I enjoy spending time using this app to express any emotions I'm feeling at that moment.

11. And so, penzu feels personal and not like writing on a note pad.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Penzu Issues

1. Fix Penzu Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Penzu: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Penzu App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Penzu" » Open Penzu » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Penzu » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Penzu app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Penzu servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Penzu" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Penzu app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Penzu might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Penzu. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Penzu then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Penzu not working


2. Fix Penzu Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Penzu be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Penzu not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Penzu may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.

  • I have had a Penzu account for years. I pay monthly for pro. I tried to log on today and I’m being told that my account expired. I looked into my subscriptions and it is not expired. I don’t know why I can’t get in to my journal and would very much like to.

    However this email address got deactivated by my college as I have now graduated from my college.
    The challenge is, after this was deactivated, I am no longer able to log into my penzu using my previous email address.

  • I have a different penzu account. But that account is still on penzu free. I just deleted a very important journal.. I have been using that journal for years and I deleted it by mistake

  • Hello, I recently wrote an entry and for some reason that I can't understand, it's not showing the recent version. I can't go back and restore the version that I know is the correct, but it's asking me to pay the PRO+ service.
    I think is very unfair since I have been using the app once in a while and I'm not planning to pay for a service I'm not gonna use.
    As far as I know, the free version is enough for what I do in the app. But, I didn't knew it was possible to loose your information and not be able to get it back. I took so long to write the latest entry and I was planning to post it as an article. And now, I lost more than half of it.

    What can I do?

    (Proof of this is that the weight of the entry I can view is 3.65 KB while the one I just finished earlier was 8.91 KB) That version is definitely the right one.

  • Hello - My ex-husband hacked into my account. Now that our divorce is final, I need a list of the login dates/times for my account from January 2020 to August 25, 2020. I believe it was deleted around August 24/25th. How can I get this information? Because my email was hacked, my new email is loregphoto@redacted. Please advise.

  • I paid for Penzu Pro for a long time until I fell out of the routine of journaling and couldn't afford to continue to pay monthly for something that I wasn't using. I very much would love to keep all of my past entries although when I log in it only gives me the option to renew. I thought there was a free version as well but when I click the tab to change my plan there is no free version offered, there is only the option to renew Pro or purchase Penzu Premium. Also my email address has changed and after I log in and try to update my email address it immediately kicks me out and I have to log back in only to repeat the viscous cycle. There is no option for me to contact Penzu support anywhere either. I paid for Penzu Pro for over a year and feel that I should be giving the option to contact support for help.

  • First issue is I added a few diaries to my account for about $5 a month. I had no idea I would have to continue to pay that each month. I didn't get a warning about it. 2nd issue it's like my account doesn't exist anymore I can't log into get what I wrote off of the account

  • PENZU, something terrible happened and you might receive these messages often. Although I do NOT remember deleting my main journal that I have invested in for five years (I have a few exported PDF’s fortunately) it is no longer in my archive. Is there ANY possible way to retrieve this information?

  • Hello, Penzu support team.I would like to report an issue, regarding the privacy of my entries. I am not able to open my journal and the page does not mention the reason for this issue but shows "sorry for the inconvenience" I have tried restarting it many times but the journal is not accessible... Please do something as soon as possible as this does not seem right.regards

  • I cannot access my Penzu pro account from either my phone, laptop, or iPad. The response is that I need to upgrade my subscription, which I did on 7/2/21. The previous emails show that one auto renewal was cancelled, but I renewed for 2 years on 7/2. I uninstalled then reinstalled the Penzu app.

  • I typed 2 journal entries that showed they automatically saved as I went along. I finished them and started a new entry, went back later to look at them and there is nothing saved!!!! Both entries were over 1000 words and I don't really want to have to type them again!!! Is there anyway to recover it???

    I paid for Penzu Pro for a years subscription in Oct 2020. I downgraded to free account today as I did not want to be charged for a pro account upon renewal, but believed I would still be able to use the Pro features until the end of my year as paid for. However my account has been returned to a basic account and it appears I have lost 3 months of my years subscription. As I am now back on a basic plan could I please be refunded a pro-rata portion of my yearly subscription for teh three months I have lost.

  • I have a problem logging into my account in Penzu. I switched my phone recently and couldn’t login on my new phone because it said
    that no account was found with that email address. But I do get regular emails from Penzu on this email reminding me to use the app. I thought that the reason might have been that I hadn’t logged out from my old phone, so I did that. Now I have no longer access to my multiple important notes to me because it keeps saying there’s no account registered with my emails address. I hope you can help me solve the problem!

  • I renewed my annual Penzu Pro account a few days after my account expired. My subscription shows renewed with a 8/29/2022 renewal date. When logging back in app shows “Pro account expired, please renew”. Please help me log back in or advise how to correct this problem. Thank you.

  • I created my penzu account back in 2007. It was fine and easy to access up until 2019. I hadn't signed in for a few months but when I did it didn't recognize my password. I reset my password and nothing happened. I tried repeatedly...nothing! When it finally came up ALL MY ENTRIES WERE GONE EXCEPT A FEW RANDOM ONES THAT WEREN'T EVEN RECENT!! I haven't tried in a while because the last few times I could no longer get in. HELP HELP HELP!! PLEASE!!
