1. My sincere gratitude for the tireless contributions of Francisco Esquembre, Fu-Kwun Hwang, Wolfgang Christian, Félix Jesús Garcia Clemente, Anne Cox, Andrew Duffy, Todd Timberlake and many more in the Open Source Physics community.
2. added calibration of known zeroth and first-order diffraction light of the RED laser. some phones/Android OS (XiaoMi etc) may require App permission for CAMERA to be turn on. some phones/Android OS (Samsung) could be automatic. close the App and restart App again, it should now detect the given CAMERA permission.
3. This research is supported by the eduLab project AEP 01/18 LTK Promoting joy of learning by turning phone into 3 scientific equipment, awarded by the Ministry of Education (MOE), Singapore and managed by National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore.
4. An open source physics at Singapore simulation based on codes written by Félix Jesús Garcia Clemente.
5. This data logger record intensity of brightness of red, green, blue light and even allows the phone camera to record real time data.
6. I have designed much of the above based on their ideas and insights.
1. While it does function a lot of work needs to be put into usability and the UI.I had a diffraction grating, laser, and light ready, however inside the app there was no camera preview and no instructions.
2. Had to close app from back ground. There is no control over the automatic features of the camera (Such as contrast), making analysis inaccurate.Update the "point at a gas lamp" to point at light source.
3. Placed diffraction grating over lens, aimed at fluoro, pressed "Calibrate" and it reported fluoro light does not exist.
4. The calibration procedure requires you to point the camera at a flourescent light and then at a gas lamp.
5. Florencent light as calibration base is accurate, simple and cheap way.Does not work.
6. Rotated the grating at angles to see if this made a difference Nope.Doesnt recognize flourecent lights but needs to be calibrated to flourecent lights.
7. When I find it out towards other lamps it doesn't work.Could have been a useful tool.
8. may be a kit or diy box with a modified webcam + grating filter connected thru OTG might help.
9. Not sure it gives an accurate reading in that case but it wont work otherwuse.
10. I tried pressing the camera button and nothing happened.
11. Does not show what area of the screen its using to calculate spectra.
