Optiwatt Customer Insights

1. Trying to link to Fordpass without your user name as an email (yes I can log in to fordpass, I use it daily) the app won't work.I was having issues before the new update since then everything is working perfect!Charged my car to 90% when it was set to 70% On a separate occasion, it stopped charging my car way too early when though the power cost was negative.

2. It took way too long to update my electricity rates (SCE rates are wrong for everyone).One disadvantage of this app for people with slight OCD like myself, is there is no way to correct previous charge electricity rates.

3. I understand that you might be showing 90 in your system but there may be a miscommunication from the UI to the cloudApp provides a great set of analytics and cost for charging but entering a utilit plan manually is not as reassuring as linking the accounts.

4. I also liked the estimated cost of charging based on real electric company rates.

5. Contacted app support, was told problem solved, but last charge only recorded 3 separate segments with few minutes in each segment.Unfortunately after 3 days of it being downloaded, and I've uploaded Utility bill, app still is blank.

6. I tried contacting support to correct previous charge rates and they said they did, but it is still not accurate.

7. Downloaded this to see if it would give me a more accurate depiction on the cost of my charging habits and how much I'm saving compared to an ICE vehicle.

8. The most helpful feature is really allowing for scheduled charging during the cheapest rate period (overnight), combined with scheduling preheating and preconditioning in the morning.

9. I would also request a combo of both charging modes for different daysIt's good and convenient, but got wrong electricity rate .

10. I tried asking for all my past charging data to be wiped as an alternative, but the data reappeared as soon as I re added my vehicleDoes not work with Ford.

11. According to an email I exchanged with them prior to this, they can see my charging numbers are accurate on their side, but for some reason don't pull over to my (user) end.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Optiwatt Issues

1. Fix Optiwatt Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Optiwatt: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Optiwatt App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Optiwatt" » Open Optiwatt: Tesla & EV Charging » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Optiwatt » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Optiwatt: Tesla & EV Charging app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Optiwatt servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Optiwatt: Tesla & EV Charging" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Optiwatt app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Optiwatt might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Optiwatt. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Optiwatt then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Optiwatt not working


2. Fix Optiwatt Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Optiwatt be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Optiwatt not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Optiwatt may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
