1. The Digital Chant Stand App contains complete texts, both fixed and movable parts, for daily services in the Orthodox Church in both English and Greek.
2. Follow along in your parish's Vespers, Orthros, or Divine Liturgy.
1. But the Android app is lacking the option to have the Greek and English side-by-side - these days the service alternates language constantly, so quick access to see both at the same time is useful in order to keep track - do this and it's worth 5 stars. For what it is, it's very good.
2. I do have one suggestion: a "search in text" option because when you arrive late or get lost and hear a word you recognize, you could search for it and find your place easily.Hi, used to be able to tap on a verse/section and it would toggle between Greek & English, which I found VERY helpful.
3. The online version shows Greek and English side by side, which makes it easier to flip between the 2 languages as needed.Fantastic. Even though I'm on the Julian calendar, these services are very useful.
4. If it's a matter of lacking manpower, I understand, but yeah. The app lises text position all the time making it nearly unusable for following a service.
5. Also, given that many chanters use android tablets rather than Apple ones, it would be good if this app could open scores for display and download scores for offline use like its iOS counterpart can.
6. I had to go back to (excellent) pdfs on AGES web page as a result. This app is such an immense help! Keeps me focused during the service and I finally know what's going on.
7. The wider AGES Initiative has an iPhone app that delivers the full AGES Digital Chant Stand, with music as well as text.
8. God bless these programmers that created this app. This is a superb app, and God bless you for making it available but without the option to use it offline, its utility is diminished.
9. If you put the phone down for a moment and it locks, or if you accidentally hit "home" button and need to come back, it returns you to the top of the servic text.
10. We don't all have data plans, and churches tend to lack WiFi.You can only see one language at a time.
11. But it is very good to have the texts of each day's services, for months in advance.I try to follow along on my samsung 21 5G.
