1. This application estimates your general risk of cancer, as well as the risk of 38 types of different cancers, based on roughly 650 different risk factors described in the scientific literature.
2. All information that is requested will influence your risk for at least one type of cancer, so the more complete and accurate the information you enter, the more dependable the results.
3. The lifetime probabilities of developing cancers were based on USA data from the National Cancer Institute's (NCI's) Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program, collected since 1973 and by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR), collected since 1995.
4. As not every study includes a multivariate analysis and the effect of some risk factors on certain cancers is so large their effect cannot be eliminated from basic probability, a bias toward overestimation of risk is possible.
5. Results are displayed for lifetime risk as well as for 10-, 20- and 30-year timeframes, as well as the risk of death from the cancer in question.
6. This application has the CE conformity mark as a medical device with a low risk.
7. However, as significant controversy and widely different study results can persist around the impact of even a single variable in a strictly selected population, this is based on a large number of assumptions, extrapolations and estimates.
8. As it it is considered a medical device that poses minimal risk to patients and consumers, it falls under the FDA exercise enforcement discretions.
9. The evaluations presented represent our best efforts to conveniently assess cancer risk.
10. Risk factors requiring complex tests not available to the average clinician were excluded.
11. Additionally, over 90 published & validated cancer models have been included in the application, providing more detail for interested users.
1. This app came recommended to me by a healthcare provider at one if the world's foremost cancer research and treatment hospitals.-> Well designed interface -> Accurate info -> Runs quickly -> Does not take a lot of battery -> Customer service could have been better they refused to explain the link between cancer and allergies directly to me even though I indicated specifically that they could use big words.Really cool app and very informative! Slight nitpick height appears to be labelled as length (not sure if this was intended) , but otherwise great app!great app, can you explain the science behind it? genuinely a good app, just a friendly reminder it would obviously produce better results if you have medical records etcSimple app, good results.
2. -Karen 😂😅Hey I downloaded the app but I don't want to open it so can you explain the science in the link between cancer and allergies? You can use big words.Great app as long as you've at least taken biology 11 with Karen.
3. Good job. It's a nice app but can you explain the science in the link between cancer and allergies? I don't want to look at the resources you have created to explain this. The outcomes and chances are well described and easily understood by a layman.
4. Could you please explain further using big words? I took Biology 11 so you don't need to explain it like I'm a normie.
5. Pretty neat! I wish it would include more lifestyle and environmental factors like occupation and proximity to freeways, airports etc.
6. Well researched, cited sources, and gives recommendations on how to reduce risk.
7. Really appreciate this from a medical point of view for a lay-person.
8. This app uses big words because they are necessary.
9. Great job.Interesting app.
10. but I think for a free app it is quite thorough.
