1. A big thanks to all behind the scenes at Watch Duty!in the middle of Fire season here, and have no fewer than 6 fires currently within a 50 mile radius, and one is just a short distance from our property.
2. The Watch Duty app has reduced that anxiety with constant updates of our local fires.
3. I wish Watch Duty still worked on my phone.Absolutely invaluable app for fire-prone California residents.
4. I use a DNRC site normally, but Watch Duty was recommended...I was hesitant, but I can't say ENOUGH good things! So they get info out faster than the agencies.
5. Was very useful last year, even showed a couple small fires started by lightning strikes a few miles away which were not mentioned anywhere else as far as I could find.
6. Feeling less safe. The app was working for about 1 wk but now it does not show anything except my location but the app on another person's phone at my home shows the nearby fires.
7. Updates for working fires are spotty and disappear/reappear during course of fire.
8. Also there is no way to look up the fire in your area, no list of active fires that you can just click on the fire you want to see.
9. I'm happy to support the app with a monthly donation, easy to set up from the app.Unfortunately this app freezes and fails to work at all on my android phone (the OS is Android Pie 9).
10. I downloaded it again yesterday and despite trying different combinations of downloading, deleting, restarting my phone, re-downloading, and playing with app settings, I couldn't get the app to work.
11. Watch Duty kept us notified, good or bad.
