COVID Defense Customer Insights

1. And I see many versions for each state, no indication these even work together.Exposure notifications ARE turned on, but app doesn't work anymore!!!! It worked just fine until a couple of months ago.

2. For a short while now, I've had the one for Pennsylvania downloaded to my phone as well for other personal reasons.App states it will only work if the other person both reports having covid, have this app installed, and Bluetooth on during the time nearby.

3. What about people on the boarder, or whom travel? App is poorly designed, and wont work well (see other reviews....). App requires location, but provides no reason for it-- using bluetooth is all it should need.

4. The app doesn't work unless the other person has also downloaded the app and has it turned on.

5. Can y'all fix this? Seems useless if the exposure tracker doesn't actually work.Got a notification to install this app.

6. This causes the "COVID-19 Exposure Notifications" setting to be unable to stay in the "on" setting when you leave the device's Settings.

7. Other states' Android apps work fine.

8. I checked and notifications WERE ENABLED! What's going on? Can you please fix this?What's the purpose of the app if a person doesn't enter their positive results.

9. (Edit: it _finally_ (2022) does appear to actually register itself with Android as the "Exposure Notifications" app, so maybe it works now.

10. On 29 April 2022 I got a notification that exposure notifications were turned off for this app.

11. I hope it's fixed soon, I'd happily change my review.I'll feel a lot more safer having this telling me if I've come into contact with anyone that has listed themselves as being exposed to Covid-19 and its mutated versions.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix COVID Defense Issues

1. Fix COVID Defense Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart COVID Defense: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the COVID Defense App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "COVID Defense" » Open COVID Defense » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for COVID Defense » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear COVID Defense app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from COVID Defense servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "COVID Defense" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check COVID Defense app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, COVID Defense might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall COVID Defense. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall COVID Defense then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing COVID Defense not working


2. Fix COVID Defense Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make COVID Defense be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to COVID Defense not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, COVID Defense may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
