What users are saying

1. Once installed you can re-enable COVID exposure notifications. In order to get this app to download, I had to uninstall VA's COVIDWISE app and re-install after the DC CAN app was installed (and then re-enable notifications for both apps once they were both installed).

2. Hopefully more people start using it, as it doesn't seem to be intrusive or even a battery drain at all (at least on my phone) you will need to have Bluetooth turned on in order for this app to work, but it uses something called low energy Bluetooth, which is probably why it doesn't affect battery life.

3. You need to DISABLE COVID notifications prior to install or it will not allow you to download through play store.

4. Overall good, simple app.Constantly getting notifications to enable Bluetooth and location in order to get the app to work, despite working from home and obviously not going anywhere.

5. EDIT: The verification code has been fixed, but the app still needs work.Received a notification that I had been in close contact with someone who tested positive.

6. This could occur if (like me) you have previously installed another state's COVID app and have enabled COVID notifications.

7. I work for whole foods and within the last month we had over 20 people who tested positive for covid-19 and this app still keep telling me no one near me has had the virus which I don't understand.

8. While the app idea is decent and I hope more people turn it on when they go outside, the thing really, really needs to tone down the notifications.

9. I disabled notifications in Virginia app first, installed DC app, but when I go back to VA app it says I can only have notifications turned on for one at a time.

10. The app tells me "#days ago" but doesn't give me the actual date of exposure (which would be way more helpful) and also doesn't give me any location info as to where I was exposed.

11. I'm sure this has something to do with androids security permission structure - but it was a little confusing (and I wouldn't have known to do it without reading another user's playstore review). This is amazing technology.

1. Fix DC CAN Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:

  1. Restart DC CAN: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the DC CAN App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "DC CAN" » Open DC CAN » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for DC CAN » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear DC CAN app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from DC CAN servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "DC CAN" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check DC CAN app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, DC CAN might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall DC CAN. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall DC CAN then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing DC CAN not working

2. Fix DC CAN Server issues & Internet Connection

  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make DC CAN be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to DC CAN not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, DC CAN may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
