1. it was so bad that you actually couldn't watch anything!) Fortunately I thought of removing and re-installing the app, now it's much better though not *quite* as clear as it used to be.Works well enough if it weren't for the huge ever present yle logo that basically makes the app unusable for streamed video contet.

2. It's a better app for podcasts.Very nice, except the progress indicator doesn't seem to work reliably: I was just watching something and after 30 minutes the indicator haven't moved an inch, or pixel.

Video player is a solved problem, so there's proof that this should not be an impossible task.I haven't really had any problems and was watching a lot on this app, but then, since a couple of days; the quality of the video images got horrible, ( I could barely see the characters on the programmes.

4. an easy fix would be to inverse (same opaque gray colour for the yle letters only) it and make it smaller.Nice-looking app, but usability suffers as the podcasts are not easy to handle.

5. (More convinient to use than phones physical buttons) Also when playing via Bluetooth to car stereo it doesn't often show the duration or track info anymore for some reason.

6. Every other streaming app works quickly and I can view streams from areena website, so the problem is not with the internet connection.

7. I used to listen to Areena podcasts via Google podcasts but unfortunately that doesn't work anymore.

8. Every time I open it, it loads for multiple minutes in the logo screen or hungs there forever.

9. The app doesn't remember the point where it dropped.Couldn't get the app to work.

10. The same problem is even worse on oled screens as the logo is so bright and distinctly unsharp that it's incredibly distracting.

11. Further, to get to the latest episodes of interesting programs, I have to go to my favourites, then click the program and finally the right episode.

  3. Clear Yle Areena app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Yle Areena servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Yle Areena" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Yle Areena app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Yle Areena might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Yle Areena. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Yle Areena then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Yle Areena not working


2. Fix Yle Areena Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Yle Areena be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Yle Areena not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Yle Areena may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
