23andMe Customer Insights

1. I wound up reporting myself as a leftie...not the end of the world, but any research based on my data looking at handedness is going to be wrong.Easy set-up! First time doing anything like this but I've always been curious on my background ancestry and health in the family.

2. Clicking through responses, it's really easy to make the wrong selection, and since some of the surveys advance automatically and there's no back button, there's no way to edit a response.

3. If I am looking for DNA relatives for example and I use the back button on my tablet after viewing a profile, it takes me back to the home screen.

4. Other than that, i cant wait to track my results fir a new and better way of living!Great app with intuitive menus, and an overall easy to understand process.

5. Tapping the button at the bottom of the screen takes you to the proper screen, but knowing that you can just tap the "register kit" etc buttons is something some people might not know to do.

6. It provides easy access to a thousand different questionnaires to fill out but does not provide easy to use or easy to recognize icons.

7. The apps ui is easy to navigate, only problem i had was the survey would not let you go back on the last question.

8. They will continuously update health information as the technology they use to analyze genetics gets better, without charging you extra (some say there's a subscription, but I don't see it).

9. They have solved every problem so far.It's easy to check for your newest relatives quickly on the app.

10. If you drag the screen around, you can see the page glitching and a send button will briefly flash.

11. The only issue I can find with it is that, when the process of registering the kit or giving the saliva sample is interrupted by switching apps or closing the app, the app appears to go back to the beginning.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix 23andMe Issues

1. Fix 23andMe Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart 23andMe: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the 23andMe App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "23andMe" » Open 23andMe - DNA Testing » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for 23andMe » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear 23andMe - DNA Testing app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from 23andMe servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "23andMe - DNA Testing" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check 23andMe app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, 23andMe might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall 23andMe. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall 23andMe then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing 23andMe not working


2. Fix 23andMe Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make 23andMe be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to 23andMe not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, 23andMe may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
