1. There's also no option to translate IPA back to orthographic script either, and it can't be shared with "Line", etc. This application is unique and amazing you do get the correct phonemes from the text that you dictate or type and as a plus you can choose between American or British English which is great because the phonemes are extremely different for each English dialectThis is very good app for the phonetic transcription and very much easier,i like so much and another thing is that this is very good for English languageIt does what it says surprisingly well, converting at the word level, but in and of itself has a pretty limited use case.Great app.
2. Besides that, the phonetics are accurate, really easy to compare the difference between Be and Ae.This isn't a "phonetic" app, but rather a "phonemic" one, as if you type "pun" and "spun", this app uses the phonemes /pʌn/ and /spʌn/, instead of [pʰʌn] and /spʌn/ Also, it doesn't translate unknown words (such as people's first names), nor does it add "/" symbols at the start and end of phonemes (instead using the orthographic punctuation "full-stop" symbol to denote the end).
3. But, following features are needed : 1) Side by side with English text 2) Line by line with English text 3) Font Size 4) Export to an html file alongwith both the English text and the line by line IPA.
4. Thx!Great help, but the switching between American and British pronunciation taking so many button(too many!) presses (instead of offering everything all together) is big, fat PAIN IN THE ASS!! Also, the app's title made me and another collegue think its name was "TOphonetics" initially. The ads are giving me heart attacks.
5. For example: It's missing the glottal stop sound /ʔ/, as in the word "kitten - kiʔn/", the flap sound /ɾ/, as in the word "little - lɪɾəl" and the R-Colored vowels /ɝ/ and /ɚ/, as in the words "after - æftɚ" and "certain - cɝʔn".
6. However, for a non-native English speaker, with little to no exposure to phonetic symbols at a proper school, like myself, the IPA characters are quite intimidating.
7. It's very useful for English teachers and learners alike.
8. Please add an option to your app, so that the user can correct errors in the data and it will be saved. So much cool, but I think there's some mistakes that occurred in the app.
9. Therefore, I would like to suggest that if you could kindly add a non-phoneme character set like the one used in WordWeb Dictionary, it'd be so much more helpful.
10. Please keep up the good work.
11. I can live with that.I like your application, but sometimes there are wrong transcriptions.
