1. (Tip: If you are too worried about the battery, which given the situation is a minor inconvenience at most, maybe consider switching off the bluetooth and location when you are inside your home for long durations).A good app who does what it's supposed to, only plays up a bit in battery saver mode (Android) But I have installed the app whilst on holiday in CH and have now returned to the UK and switched to the local app here (you can only have one app active) the Swiss app says that it will not send any reports if the tracing is not active.
2. This means that the location function has to be activated even if the SwissCovid app never has access to your location via satellite position."Sometines I disable the contact tracing in the app since I am at home and do not want to waste battery.
3. The reason why GPS permission is needed for android devices can be found in the FAQ of the BAG : "In order for the SwissCovid app to work and have access to Bluetooth, on Android devices you have to activate the location function.
4. No degredation in battery performance noticed. The app works just fine (at least I suppose so), but please let the user disable the warning notifications for disabled Bluetooth and location.
5. I leave my home once a week and don't want to have Bluetooth and location enabled the other six days, nor these annoying notifications... Update: Yesterday I got a notification about a potential infection.
6. Also, after entering the covid code, if the contact tracing is disabled, clicking on the "Share" button to confirm the sending of the key does not do anything.Great app.
7. It is a limitation of Google Android Software development tools that force the developers to ask for location permission.
8. I have read a few comments from concerned users about needing to have location services enabled on Android.
9. Is this not the point of the app? Speed? How about having patients sign a form at the test center allowing the laboratory to enter the status locally? You don't need to be a Swiss engineer to implement this!Great app.
10. No GPS, no mobile locations! There is a great transparency about this open source app and a lot of online resources (Wikipedia, github, etc.) Privacy is of much lesser concern than with Facebook, Whatsapp & co.
11. Very nice as the app seems to work, but I almost missed it because I'm very used to wiping away SwissCovid's notifications...As far as using it is concerned, a good app.
