1. If your not willing to buy the paid version for testing don't waste your time with this free android version, you will be disappointed.I have spent days trying to download a chart and got nowhere.

2. Chart plotter, AiS, NMEA data.... Prefers a big screen and a powerful processor, so I tend to use OpenCPN on my laptop rather than on my smartphone, but sometimes, being able to take a waterproof smartphone into the cockpit with a chart plotter or an AIS transponder running on it is most welcome.

Thank you to all of the devlopers who have worked on this to make it one of the best navigation tools I have.This app has some short coming but it is good for navigation, Took us from Lake Ontario to Florida on my Xperia table without main issues, the window version is more versitile and I used it for planning and backup navigation.

4. The automatic chart download function does not seem to work on the android version.

5. Having a free chart plotter thats better than my rather expensive GPS is awesome, however that says a lot about Garmins quality and not much of it good.

6. Steep learning curve but will repay the time you spent learning it.App is ok but the options to store charts either on the internal or SD card is too limiting.

7. Chart loader doesn't recognize pre-existing chart folders.This program can also be downloaded for a PC where it works a lot better.

8. I would rather share my current location I use on my laptop than have to download 1.6GB+ of charts.

1. Fix OpenCPN Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:

1. Restart OpenCPN: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
2. Update the OpenCPN App. Here is how:
   1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "OpenCPN" » Open OpenCPN » click "Update".
   2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for OpenCPN » click "UPDATE".
3. Clear OpenCPN app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from OpenCPN servers.
   1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "OpenCPN" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
4. Check OpenCPN app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, OpenCPN might not work.
5. Uninstall and reinstall OpenCPN. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall OpenCPN then reinstall.
6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing OpenCPN not working

2. Fix OpenCPN Server issues & Internet Connection

1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make OpenCPN be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to OpenCPN not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, OpenCPN may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
