What users are saying

1. Because the books one is supposedly borrowing, are not really available to read.Resets the screen brightness to 100% every single time you leave a book or the app.

2. (not because of any of my settings) When I touch the play arrow to restart the narration,it begins playing at the same point every time, no matter how far along I am in the book.

3. It seems other people have described the same : inconsistent, pages may or might not turn, book might not load at all, blank pages, frozen completely... And on and on.

4. Every time I stop listening to it it looses the location and brings me back to the beginning of the audiobook, even if I just answer a phone call, making it impossible to trace back.

5. Moves to the 1st page of a chapter when you switch to a different app but doesn't let you scroll; you have to go into the table of contents, find the chapter you're reading, and then scroll ahead to where you were.

6. It did let me read a few chapters on occasion, but only after hunting to find the one tiny (and variable) spot on the screen that registered as a page turn.

7. Most of the time it doesn't load the catalog - just a blue circle, endlessly rotating.

8. And it doesn't tell you how many pages are in the book.

9. Also goes to sleep if your not touching the screen constantly with no option to keep open until you close it.Narration stops every 3-10 minutes when playing audiobooks.

10. The app closes the book and takes you back to the main screen.

11. Constantly have to re-log on, re-get my books and once, the book was no longer available and I was halfway through it.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix SimplyE Issues

1. Fix SimplyE Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart SimplyE: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the SimplyE App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "SimplyE" » Open SimplyE » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for SimplyE » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear SimplyE app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from SimplyE servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "SimplyE" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check SimplyE app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, SimplyE might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall SimplyE. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall SimplyE then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing SimplyE not working


2. Fix SimplyE Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make SimplyE be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to SimplyE not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, SimplyE may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
