Picolo drinking game Customer Insights

1. Since then I deleted it and forgot about it, but a couple of days ago I wanted to play it again with some friends, to my surprise they had changed its payment system and now it looks really shady, this whole subscribe idea is either a very moronic move on their side or just a scam, considering the price they want to charge now I would say its probably just a desperate attempt at a scam.I paid £2.49 for one of the other modes back before it introduced subscriptions, I think it was the one above the free one.

2. The free version is good for a while but gets repetitive, for £3 odd a WEEK(!) it is nowhere near worth itApp is great when it works; however, the most recent update changes extra game modes from a 1-time purchase to be subscription based.

3. For anyone that isn't sure how to cancel the subscription (it's not obvious), you don't do it in the app but instead need to go to your Google Play settings > Subscriptions and cancel from there.EDIT: changed phone, and I lost my original paid price to get access.

4. Getting ambitious, why not offering the ability to make your prompts public, and having people vote on the best ones to be added in a custom mode? Thanks devsWent to sign up for the free 7 day free trail.

5. OLD REVIEW:I know it doesn't sound fair to most new users, but since I paid full price before and that since the new monetization update I wasn't "forced" to subscribe and keep my full app is greatly appreciated.

6. The free version used to be great, I was going to pay through there but I decided to update before.

7. Nov 4 update: All game modes are now available again, as I had previously purchased the full version.

8. So many potential and easy-to-implement solutions to this problem.Used to play this a couple of years ago with friends before going out, and most of the times it was great fun.

9. Changed rating from 1 to 4 stars, would be 5 if annual fee was substantially lowerThe game is fun but: 1.

10. Since they added subscriptions it got rid of my purchase, so I now not only have to buy that version again, but pay an extortionate amount EVERY WEEK to use it.

11. Game itself is great, but the annual fee is definitely high.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Picolo drinking game Issues

2. Fix Picolo drinking game Server issues & Internet Connection

  • Dear Picolo Support Team,

    I am writing to bring to your attention an issue regarding unauthorized charges and to request a refund for these charges.

    Recently, I discovered that I have been charged $4.50 a week for a premium subscription to the Picolo app since July 2021. To the best of my knowledge, I never signed up for a subscription, nor did I use the app during this time. In fact, I deleted the app shortly after downloading it and have only just re-installed it to investigate these charges.

    Upon re-installing the app, I discovered that despite having been charged for a premium subscription for months, I do not actually have access to the premium features. As I did not knowingly sign up for the subscription and have no interest in retaining it, I am formally requesting a full refund for all charges incurred since July 2021.

    I understand that mistakes can happen, and I am hopeful that we can resolve this issue amicably. However, I want to make it clear that I am prepared to take legal action if necessary to recover the funds that were improperly charged to my account.

    I kindly ask that you investigate this matter promptly and refund the charges to the original payment method as soon as possible. Please also ensure that any active subscriptions associated with my account are canceled immediately to prevent further charges.

    I had downloaded the Picolo Party game to try out for a night and it said “Free for 3 days, then $4.49 per week” and I deleted it right after playing it and I am receiving a bill on my bank account for the game when it was deleted way before the 3 days. I am wondering if I can get a refund due to me only having $5.71 in my account hence is to why I downloaded it then soon after deleted it because it said free for 3 days.     In the beginning of 2021 I activated family sharing with my mom since both of us had apple products and I needed a specific app which she had bought already. I was confronted with some concerns of my mom last week when she told me that she discovered some payments that had been done throughout 2021 and 2022. 4,99 had been deducted from her Paypal account multiple times a month and she called apple support to get more information on it. Turns out It was nothing that my mom purchased, it was mine. I accidentally started a subscription and my mom payed for it for over a year. I'm talking about an amount of 4,99 weekly that I definitely did not want my mother or myself to pay for. The total adds up to €224,55.
    I'm kindly asking you to please help me out in this situation. My mother never wanted to pay for this and she never realised she was actually paying for it since she often buys sheet music and if she did realise she was paying for it I would have stopped it right away. But i'm just finding out about it now when the last payment was done on the 28th of 2022. The order ID on the last payment was: MMW7ZNTYL6 and it was billed to Monica Millar.

  • Hello, I bought the 6$ for one week package and I thought it was going to unsubscribe me after a week. Then I thought I unsubscribed and I deleted the app. Then I see that I have been charged 60$ for an app I don’t use.     Hope you’re well. I emailing regarding a payment of £4.49 which I decided to look into. When I did I realised it was for piccolo subscription (a subscription I have no memory of subscribing too). It would appear since March 10th I have been charged £4.49 EVERY WEEK for the privilege. This is not something I have approved or asked for. The last time I used piccolo was many many years ago and was completely free.

    This means since March 10th I have been charged a grand total of £107.76.

    I am not sure how or why this has been happening, but I have ensured the ‘subscription' is now cancelled. Apple advised contacting you directly. Please can I ask for your help in processing a full refund. I don't think I can be expected to justify this amount of money, especially at at time like this, for a service I didn’t sign up for.

  • Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
    nach monatelanger hoher Handyrechnung erfuhr ich heute, dass mir über ein halbes Jahr 20€/Monat für die Picoloapp auf der Handyrechnung verrechnet wurde, obwohl ich die App schon lange nicht mehr am Handy installiert habe. Absolut verwerflich, wenn man bedenkt, dass die App nicht mehr von mir benutzt wurde und Ihr als Anbieter auch die Betrunkenheit (da das nunmal ein Trinkspiel ist, was in alkoholhaltiger Gesellschaft konsumiert wird) der Benutzer*innen benutzt, um diese in eine Abofalle zu locken!!!! Beim Herunterladen wird man kaum darauf aufmerksam gemacht, dass 5€/Woche verrechnet werden, geschweige denn, dass dies auch berechnet wird, wenn diese nicht benutzt wird! In solch einem Falle wäre eine Rückerstattung dessen angemessen! Auch ein Hinweis darauf, dass das Abo im Hintergrund aktiv ist, obwohl die App nichtmal mehr am Handy installiert war, fehlt!!!!

    I have your app which I used to use and remember only getting the ‘free’ app and I have never subscribed or upgraded anything.
    It has recently come to my attention that money has been taken out of my account weekly for this app.
    I have always spoken highly of this app, however after reading many reviews and having this happened to myself I now firstly demand a full refund and also for someone to review this or I will be taking it further. It is happening to too many people and it’s not ok.

    This has been taken out of my account since August 2020, so as you can imagine, I am the total is extremely high - roughly £220. I would like to request a full refund for a service I never knew I was paying for and have never used.

  • In regards to your “virus” that says “you have Tourette’s syndrome. Whenever you shout a curse word, everyone has to shout it back.” And then the prompt that the person receiving this virus is “cured” is horribly offensive. Diagnosable disorders such as Tourette’s syndrome should not be the punchline to a joke on this app. It is also a misconception that all people with Tourette’s curse uncontrollably, and it is even worse to have a part of your game include mocking those who do. I would suggest you remove this prompt from your app because it is not only ableist but insensitive. Thanks !

    I came across a question in the game which said “would you rather be Chinese or smell like wet dog”
    I believe this question to be extremely racist and vile and it should be removed from the game.

  • You have been charging me since September 2020 for a subscription I NEVER signed up for. I barely ever use your app and I do not have the money to waste on apps considering I’m a broke college student.     I downloaded picolo about three weeks ago and I picked the free version of the app because I was only gonna play once. I then deleted the app but was still getting charged for the game. My family and I share an account and my dad is the one who reached out to me that we were getting the charges. I then downloaded the app again and canceled the membership. We then again got charged this week $5. I am annoyed that we got charged $15 for a game we did not even use but only once and I never agreed to paying $5 a week. I would very much like a refund please.

  • I have had the Picolo app for a long time now and have only used it a handful of times, so rarely ever. I was just notified that Picolo has been charging me $4.49 for months now for a premium subscription that I did not sign up for, nor did I consent to.     As I played your drinking game the last few days, I had to recognize the women discriminating touch, many of the tasks and questions have.
    How is it possible, that there are themed games named : „Mistakes, women do in a relationship“, or „Advantages of being a man“, while I haven‘t seen these questions related to the other gender in the approximate 6 hours of playing Picolo drinking game.
    Another example would be the task for women to be a service force for the men and serve them everything they want, as well as the themed game „enumeration of kings in history“ - queens excluded.
    Also, forcing women to drink their cup sizes in sips is disrespectful and reduces women to their bodies.
    Since we have reached the 21st century, I believe that it‘s a big step backwards in the gender equality, women fought for, for so long.
    Moreover, does §1 of the AGG (Allgemeines Gleichbehandlungsgesetz) in english- general equal treatment act forbid the discrimination and disadvantage of people because of their gender, race, sexuality...
    §3 I AGG defines the discrimination more specifically, „eine unmittelbare Benachteiligung liegt vor, wenn eine Person wegen eines in §1 genannten Grundes eine weniger günstige Behandlung erfährt als eine andere Person in einer vergleichbaren Situation erfährt, erfahren hat oder erfahren würde.“ - It’s a discrimination, if a person receives a worse dealing than another person in the same situation - of the other gender in this case.
    Picolo doesn‘t pursue any goal, which would justify the discrimination of women in the tasks and questions (§3 II AGG)
    Last but not least §3 III AGG „Eine Belästigung ist eine Benachteiligung, wenn unerwünschte Verhaltensweisen, die mit einem in § 1 genannten Grund in Zusammenhang stehen, bezwecken oder bewirken, dass die Würde der betreffenden Person verletzt und ein von Einschüchterungen, Anfeindungen, Erniedrigungen, Entwürdigungen oder Beleidigungen gekennzeichnetes Umfeld geschaffen wird.“
    If I personally, feel humiliated and degraded by serving my male friends, listening to their opionions of what mistakes women do in relationships, it’s my perfectly good right.

    My only request to you is that you reconsider the tasks and questions and change them.

    I am contacting you because my son installed the free Picolo Drinking Game app. Since all 5 people in my family have their Apple accounts linked to my credit card I didn’t notice this one charge of $4.76 for a few months. As it turns out I was being charged $4.76 each week since May. He signed up for the free version which somehow morphed into a premium version. After investigating this issue I had him cancel the subscription from his iPhone yesterday but I see a new charge today. What you are doing should be illegal!!! Please refund me my all my money…
