What users are saying

1. I un-installed then re-installed the app & when I log in I just get the page saying "Not Found" I hit the back button & im logged in but still have the 'thermostat not connected' message.

2. I'm currently experiencing an issue where the thermostat doesn't call for heat when the setpoint is adjusted manually and 'tech support' has no one qualified to take a deep look into the thermostat logs.I have really mixed feelings.

3. I don't want to be logging in with my credentials at 3 am, squinting at the tiny webpage font, if I wake up hot and need to change the temps! Horrible!This app has suffered from a minimum design that had broken its easability and some functionality.

4. Free Beta testers? Also, the thermostat doesn't have a separate save for SPRING, SUMMER, FALL, & WINTER.

5. How do they not see this as a needed feature? Every year I have to try and remember the temps that worked great last year for each season.

6. Good additional information as far as the remote sensors, and having it tie into Google Home pretty seamlessly is just gravy.The new UI broke the only useful features.

7. OLD REVIEW: Great app, mirrors the thermostat's interface perfectly.

8. My app says the thermostat isn't connected to the WiFi, but the thermostat says it's connected.

9. Since the new UI app the feature is broken and almost never switch to home mode when sensors show "occupied" .

10. The rest are handled on the thermostat itself or by logging into the website.

11. I've been relying on this feature for years and kept on waiting for it to be fixed again.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix ecobee Issues

1. Fix ecobee Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart ecobee: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the ecobee App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "ecobee" » Open ecobee » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for ecobee » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear ecobee app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from ecobee servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "ecobee" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check ecobee app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, ecobee might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall ecobee. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall ecobee then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing ecobee not working


2. Fix ecobee Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make ecobee be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to ecobee not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, ecobee may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
