1. Of all that's bad about this shoddy app, I have to say that what frustrates me most has to be the horrible UI and the fact that THERE IS NO WAY TO DELETE SHOWS FROM MY "CONTINUE WATCHING" LIST! The autoplay bugs out saying the next episode "...isn't available" or something, so I manually skip ahead, which leaves the previous episode stuck in limbo on my list with no way to get rid of it.I understand this app has commercials and that commercials are necessary because it's free.

2. Can't make a watch list of what you'd like to not have to search for every time, the continue watching is not really a continue watching, it shows you everything you watched.

3. Another problem was that one of the shows were removed without warning ! I was watching the last season, with only 5 episodes left, and just like that, it was gone! Just rude..Does not work on my samsung tablet anymore.

4. When the app freezes on your screen it will keep going on the back end suddenly you'll be watching the next episode because the show will jump forward in time.

5. If you have to go off the app for any extended time you have to watch a new set of ads to continue watching, sometimes there are 6 or more ad breaks with 4-5 ads each.

6. Good thing I can see the only show left that I watch on this app on a different streaming service.The worst Streaming App.

7. One minor negative is that if you search for a show thru your smart TV it now navigates to the CW home page rather than straight to the show so you have to actually open the app first and search internally.

8. A watch list would help improve the app even more.Tried to watch the new episode of The Flash, so not exactly old archived content.

9. Are you f***ing kidding me? Ads play fine, actual shows don't, and you purposely don't keep track of either.You're not gonna get me to believe this app wasn't just thrown together by someone over a single weekend.

10. The shows download fine, but the commercials freeze up, When I re-open the app I get the same thing.

11. Pretty disappointing app.The interface is much improved with a new search feature and a "continue watching" tab.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix The CW Issues

1. Fix The CW Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart The CW: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the The CW App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "The CW" » Open The CW » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for The CW » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear The CW app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from The CW servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "The CW" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check The CW app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, The CW might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall The CW. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall The CW then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing The CW not working


2. Fix The CW Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make The CW be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to The CW not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, The CW may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.

  • I am trying to watch " The Secret Circle" and every time that the episode ends, it goes right back to the MAIN CW SEED screen and then I have problems getting back to the next episode.. I have cleared every thing and even RESET my ROKU several times, but still the same issue...

  • Under GDPA law I request to have the CW app removed from my mobile phone and my account data removed from ALL CW records.. Please note the penalty for denying my request is $7500 fine AND 4% of annual turnover under GDPR.

  • My husband signed up for the free trial and I do not know the info he used to sign up.
    He recently passed away and I need to cancel the acct. I believe he signed up under my name.
    Please cancel my subscription ASAP.
